In every map available Stalkers are worst POS to move. Specially in Canyon maze, it cannot climb away from those canyons. Every other mech I've tried can climb many points, but Stalkers can't.
Even Atlases are agile like monkeys compared to Stalkers.

And there's no rock too small or car too little to stop Stalker from moving in any map.

Is the climbing issue really Stalker specific?

Also, Stalkers are basically meant to be SUPER DUPER OMGWTF Hollanders, in the sense that they are basically a fusion reactor with two legs and epic weaponry strapped to it.

Think of them like the Ion Frigates from Homeworld.

Yes. I've not found climbing problems with other mechs, but my Stalkers refuse to scale canyon walls. Having to go the long way round instead of following the team is a bit too much of a handicap to be a minor quirk of the chassis.

Hmm. I have noticed some issues with the Stalker climbing on that map but I didn't really pay much attention to it.

when we finally get a chance to pick our maps, and mechs before a drop, on some maps like Canyon your better off with a jumpjet equipped mech. Atlas and Stalker not really a good choice for multi level terrain.

Well it makes sense actually. Their noses are huge.

But I have not noticed this.

Stalkers are the Mechs I most fear in a fight, because it takes so much to bring one down.

However, like every Mech, they have their weaknesses, which are mobility and huge side torsos. This is a good thing in terms of game balance.

Alas i don't know any game that combine such a brilliant story with a real 3D map.
Sins of Solar Empire is good but it lacks the two points above.

The TWO points above? So its neither like Homeworld nor does it have Singleplayer ;P?

Stalker is probably the most devastating mech bar none

either a 6PPC 'snipe your torso off at 800m'

or 4PPC 5 Streak 'come at me bro'

you almost always HAVE to tunnel through BOTH side torsos to kill a stalker as well

making them a nasty 'tank'

even though no mech really 'tanks' in this game

personally when I pilot my stalkers the fat side torsos help more than hurt

you can twist to one side and they HAVE to tunnel through that armor

if you are distributing damage from the beginning of the game you can force the enemy to go through all 3 torso armor sections before they get to do any serious internal damage

no other mech can do this as effectively

All that tank ability and power means nothing when you can't effectively traverse the terrain. That insane alpha potential is effectively nerfed by its inability to step over a piece of discarded gum.

I don't have a problem with them in the canyon map.

Thing is, you need to watch for the small indentations on the cliffside which mark the parts your mech can climb.

Slew torso sideways and 'walk' up them. The whole climbing problem is due to the nose. Think of it as trying to climb a ladder with a raging hard on and no pants. ;)
