Will it be like Mechwarrior4 3, etc? Where you have separate points to the arms, legs, head, and torsos. Or will it an overall percentage like 100 to 0?

There's no official news on this yet, just speculation.

Personally, I would like to see localized damage, since attacking particular areas of the Mech is more strategic rather than just "did I hit or miss him".

I think from what we know so far we can erase an idea like "100% health". This idea would be even worse than MechAssault could ever be and could be a k.o.-criteria for a lot of players. Including me.

maybe there will be both... in that you get a quick summary of "0-100%" at a glance, but its just an average of your individual component health. Something like that could help out people new to the game, but its also very important to know when say your left arm is almost destroyed so you can try to present your fresher right arm armor more.

Something like in Mechwarrior 4 would be perfect I think. Either you choose a simple scematic screen with colors from Green to Red to Black or a rather detailed one. Why not stick to what already works? :)

In the Trailer the Warhammer went from 100% to 0% pretty fast.
Also, that's how it works in World of Tanks. And you have Through Armor Criticals that damages/destroys components too.

They canned the xbox version just so they could make this like mw2-4. It'll be just like it's always been. For that, I am relieved.

Yeah, I'm 99.9% sure that the reason why this was in the trailer was just a mockup to quickly show users "The Warhammer is taking serious damage". They had to convey that message quickly.

Of course, it does raise the question of wondering how cool it will be to see a Mech go crit in the game. :)

I just hope it doesn´t happen as often as it does in MWLL. :D Supersonic nuclear explosions everywhere.

I want to be able to start a chain reaction of exploding reactors!
Stackpole told me it could happen!

I think Mechwarrior 4 did it right with the localized damage. Though I am sure improvements could be made as to how a mech is considered destroyed.

Yes, of course. Mechwarrior 4 is an "old" game. There are so many engine-based improvements done since its realease. I think there will be more detailed localized damage, but the overall idea is quite good imho.

There should be a health bar which is an average of the health you have in all of the important parts of your mech, like the toros, head, legs, not arms and weapon racks.

I would like to see not only a traditional BT damage model, I would also like to see specific damage to internal components. Actuators, comms, coolant lines, heatsinks, gyro, etc. I'd like all of these to be able to be damaged or destroyed individually. Probably won't get that detailed, but I can dream!

Hit point systems are a horrible albatross about the neck of wargames, both computerized and PnP.

They said in the interviews they are getting extremely close to MW2 through MW4, so almost certainly localized damage, and probably a Armor layer/Internal layer HP system.

It would be nifty to see the original damage record mech graphic from the miniatures game as a HUD element. Each armor section changing color indicating the amount of armor left.

we'll just have to wait for the game to release and find out how it plays.

Seriously Rodney, why are you making new replies to all of these ancient posts? Especially one that just says, "We'll have to wait and see!"
Are you reading the forums sorted by date in ascending order?
