You must have missed my previous post where I said I'd experienced this amazing JJ "phenomenon" first hand.
It's honestly laughable how many people have this screen shake sickness! Step away from the monitor lol. Tell me, how does a boat ride or an air flight feel for you? What about regular car journeys, what about your average theme park roller coaster? How does real life in general go for you?
I'm astonished that a simple little gaming company like PGI can induce so much "real" sickness in so many people from the tiniest bit of screen shake. I don't know about you but the reticule "vibration" was far more distracting than the NEGLIGIBLE screen shake. If I were you I'd get a class action lawsuit going or something hurr.
I wonder how I made it through life with genuine medical travel sleep apnoea, heavy activity related asthma and just generally being an old crock. Well I adapt, you know it's called survival of the fittest? I don't complain, I don't ask for people to treat me like I'm some speshul individual with speshul needs, I adapt to my environment. Because of that I have a secure and very well paid job and a seriously good life I'm very happy with.
Just wonder how you're all going to cope when you move out from your parent's house heh.
There have been a few of you who, upon having this distinction pointed out, have been rather understanding, (DeaconW has been pretty good about this for example), so I'll add another clarification in the hopes that it reaches a few more sets of eyes.
The problem that so many of us are having is the visual stimuli saying "shaking" while the physical stimuli says "not shaking". This is a fairly common affliction, and is the reason so many people have trouble with movies using hand-held camera (Blair Witch Project being a classic example).
The real world examples you cite above don't actually pose any sort of problem, because the stimuli matches and the inner ear can compensate. I would probably not get any sort of motion sickness from piloting an actual Spider and using my jump jets (I'm fortunate in this regard, as there are many who would have this issue), and yet the recent change to my virtual Spider renders it unplayable.
I hope you can understand why I'd find this frustrating, and why so many of us are here voicing our dismay.
Thanks,
Rip
