It was scrapped!
In favor of a real 75T mech!!
That will be invisible to avoid legal issues.

Screw your Quickdraw, screw your clan mechs, screw every piece of equipment you throw into the game.
The ONLY thing PGI could do to get my money outside of the Orion release, is Unseen Warhammer and Marauder.
That's all they have left to get my money.

I'm not quite sure what an Orion could do that a Cataphract couldn't other than be 5 tons heavier.

Sorry my sweet spots are 55tons and 85tons.
The biggest mech I can get before the JumpJets start weighing more.
Or if you like MASC go for 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100.
I will admit the Orion is the sweet spot for playing what's almost an assault without having to play in my assault Elo.

While I would love an Archer, it is Unseen and thus unlikely to ever be introduced.
It is based on (well, copied really) from the Macross MBR-07-Mk II Spartan Main Battle Destroid:
Also, it really doesn't "have similar specs to the Orion" - the Archer is *the* LRM boat from original BT.

Yup. artwork by shimmering sword. its based off of the reseen anyway. so i don't see any copyright issue.
but PGI are being scardie cats when it comes to anything unseen.

like most of SS's stuff, it wouldn't pass the "resemblance" factor of a copyright/trademark/patent issue. Jeep was able to successfully sue KIA for having a 7 slot grill on their Sportage, because a 7 slot grill is a jeep "visual identifier" or some such.
SS is awesome, but his takes usually are just melty/smoothed versions of the original. HG would feast.

What exactly are they supposed to say? There's probably some other reason for the delay that they don't want to/can't tell us.

I think you're dead on with this. Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to have the Orion available - but the 75 tons you'll get with it seems like it'll be close to a "wash" vs. the Cataphract. You'll need a 300-size engine to run it at the same default speed - and heavier to go faster, so that extra 5 tons, a lot of that's already spoken-for. If you're talking about standard engines, you're looking at a difference of 3 tons between the 280 for the CTF and the 300 for the Orion (22 tons vs. 25). The only "real" difference is going to come down to the hitboxes and hardpoints. It looks like it'll be a slightly more effective CTF-2X to me...
That said, no doubt I'll be buying the Orion when it does get released I'll happily buy the Quickdraw as well. It should be a very fun and versatile 60-tonner. Lightweight hardpoint options, high speed and armor capacities, jump jets -- what's not to love about it? People complain to no end about the PPC-happy state of the game, and then PGI gives you a 60-ton flanker/striker... I don't get the hate. This mech (and the Victor) are exactly what MWO needs to break out of the stale "walk to the front line and trade shots" mentality the game has settled into.
