Okay so in the development update today it stated that the quickdraw would be coming out the 18th instead of the orion, PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A TYPO. I like the quickdraw and all but I have been waiting for the orion for a very long time and I'm going to be very disappointed if the quickdraw ( which doesn't even have released artwork yet) makes it in before the orion which has been announced and has had its artwork available for quite some time now. I hope it was only a typo and they meant to announce that the quickdraw will either be the next mech after the orion or they were just stating that the quickdraw will be a confirmed mech or something.

IT IS NOT A TYPO... QUICKDRAW IS THE NEXT MECH OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED.

Ok, so this is as close to offical that the Orion is getting pushed back. My questions are as follows:

How far back?

What caused this shift in devlopment and why?

I was really, really looking forward to the Orion, and got really excited when it was pushed a spot closer in the cycle due to the pushing back of the Flea. Then, suddenly, quickdraw outta nowhere?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for more mechs being introduced into the game, more mechs=more content. but why are we pushing back the Orion? For the Quickdraw of all things?

You missed a week of raging and the jokes about why....

I would prefer to use the simple answer of INCOMPETENCE.

*facedesks*

It...it was going to be my stand in for a warhammer...

It was the reason I haven't left the game yet... frankly, I was holding out for the Orion being next.

Why is it every time they take a step in the proper direction [jj shake nerf in this instance] They take a step back with a bonehead move like this?

You just have to stick it out and hope that there's still a chance to save Han...

There seems to be this idea that PGI did this specifically to **** off a bunch of its playerbase or something.

Personally, I prefer to think that there might be actual legitimate reasons for this decision. I agree it would be better if we had a fuller explanation, but people are reacting as if this were some sort of malicious act on the part of PGI.

I imagine it probably isn't, and whatever reason they may have to push back the Orion is not one that any amount of complaining and doomsaying would affect. Maybe they're having problems with the mech itself, maybe there's a balance issue at work here (for example, as a 75 tonner it would be the undeniable best Heavy mech), maybe they want to hold on the Orion as a launch chassis or to coincide with the introduction of the clans (so while the clans get their 4 or so new mechs, inner-sphere players get something good as well).

Regardless, I'm fairly confident they didn't sub in the Quickdraw in a deliberate ploy to ruin people's lives. ;)
