Poptart was completely valid, there were not too many of them, AND THERE ARE A DOZEN OTHER STRATEGIES FOR HITTING PEOPLE FROM BEHIND COVER!

I can't believe you're serious. There is no way you've been playing this game for 3-4 months.

Yes I find it really hard to believe that someone that complains the most isn't affected by the nerf at all, in fact as you claim haven't even tried poptarting at all.

It's a stupid strategy! There's no reason to load out like that in a highlander when you could go for engines or armor instead and be a fast heavily armored brawler with jumpjets. Making yourself harder to hit with jets is perfectly valid in my opinion but standing behind a hill doing it with PPC's and other stuff is boring as hell.

There's no reason to be a poptart.

Let me be clear;

1) The introduction of RNG to the game mechanics is a horrible decision. Horrible. The far side of this is that every weapon behaves like missiles.
2) There was no need whatsoever for a change and the only reason for it was because bad whiners got their way. Whiners who don't know how to use cover and think that this is an MMO.

I can only see 2 possibilities where you can even remotely have the experience while playing MWO that poptarting isn't a problem at all

1) You always run in a premade so you can coordinate all the time with several team-mates and flank together
2) You for some reason often end up playing some really bad opponents

Anything else short of being high/drunk I have no idea what game you've been playing. And really I'm most certainly not alone, and no it's no because you're so great and all who disagrees are noobs.

What are YOU playing that it IS a problem? If your loadout is awful then you will have problems all over. It's been true for a long time that anything under 50 kph is asking to die to lights because everyone plays fast loadouts and will leave you.

You have to balance between moving weapons platform and strike unit. If you load up way huge on everything and go slow and walk right out into the open almost ANYWHERE that is like asking to be sniped. ERPPC's and gauss rifles are a ***** on ANY MECH! If you are in the open the pros will smite you no matter what you are.

You also guard with your arms and when your getting hit you weave in ANY mech. "Run in a serpentine fashion" as I quote it now it has never been more true.

Here's a few of my favorites;

This is going to change nothing. The whine is going to shift to nerfing long range weapons again. The cycle of WAAAAAAH continues!

LOL I can't believe the whining about "pop tarts". Most of these sniveling noobs don't even know if they got killed in that way or not... every time they get sniped and didn't see it "it must have been a poptart".

List of things to actually fix:
Advanced Seismic Sensor is EXTRAORDINARILY OVERPOWERED. I don't need to go into detail.
6 ppc builds (they released the Misery at the height of this mech's popularity so they probably will take their sweet time on this)
2x AC20 builds (they just released a hero JM... again unlikely)
Warping light mechs that are impossible to hit because they teleport around (even when I have like a 20 ping and am getting 50 FPS)
Jump Jets have no directional control (which is a double edged sword and most of the cause of any unfairness regarding jump jet aiming) and no directional push except at liftoff.
AMS is not balanced with LRM boating
LRM boating (still) is not balanced

"Pop-tarts" were a non-issue. The only reason the devs did this is because nubs who can't play immediately come to the forums to complain about it and to their credit and the dismay of the game in general they actually do listen to the forums.

This is nothing but "I use jump jets" vs. "I don't use jump jets".

I.E. You aren't going to find anyone who plays a light with JJ's that wants them nerfed to fix poptarting.

Hah. I am that guy. I am ***loving*** the new JJ shake. I pilot a Spider-5D, ECM/JJ/ERPPC/XL250. Still regularly get 2-3 kills a match in it. The only people negatively affected by this are "talentless shutdown artists"*1 that could barely hit the broad side of a barn from the inside. Frankly, if you now "can't play" as it's affected your game that much, maybe you ought to be using LRMs or Streaks, something with a lower skill requirement.

*1 Can't remember who said that recently, creds if it was you, made me laugh.

Makes me ill to look at it. I could play with it if coerced but there's no reason I would want to.

This doesn't even really fix poptarts because they usually went to jump apex and released jets before firing anyway.

It's actually likely to increase that sort of thing because it's become so publicized and so many forum trolls seem to think that it's effective so.... heeeeere come the sheeple.

The last word is this: Nothing will change. It's no different than it was for the "exploiters" and it's not like there was more than one of these guys in any given match.

While it's true "most" people fired at the apex anyway, "most" people (yourself included, judging from the voracity of your complaint) aren't fast enough to line up the shot now the window of opportunity is much tighter. Hence the veritable monsoon of tears I'm currently dancing in.

You are oblivious to think that pop tarts were not problematic. The majority here has unanimously agreed that they were, hence the rejoicing of a proper fix to pop tarts. It's an extra step in the right direction. But you parade here as "I'm Mr. all butch-pro" who was the only one to find the loop hole around it. Funny, I don't see videos of you proving it, so I guess we are going to have to take your word for it.

Yes, everyone who disagrees with you are "sheeple". That's a great argument to make and very persuasive, I think I'll stop baa-ing now. Also, apparently I now believe in lots of conspiracy theories and wacky, wacky non-mainstream views simply because I previously couldn't think for myself.

I am happy they nerfed poptarting, because now when I kill you as one you don't get to hide behind the crutch that you think I'm broken.

I always took at least 3 JJ on HGH, and already shot on the way down most of the time.

Just like when they nerfed light lagshield, separates the wheat from the chaff.

stiffy...What positional tactic did the poptart use?

find rock taller than self, put between you and enemy. only leave the rock vertically...

seems like a requirement imbalance to me.

I have no problems with people poptarting in general, I generally play brawlers and can usually take out a poptart by use of terrain and cover. Although when you run into 4-5 opposing poptarts it gets annoying crossing cover, same as running into mutiple Splatcats, streakapults, LRM/PPC boating stalkers or AC40 jagers or combinations of so called "cheese builds". There should be many valid builds, not just 3-4 dominant builds. This nerf goes along way to adding some skill to at least one of the cheese builds.

In the end, it doesn't matter if you think poptarting is easy mode, boring, a valid tactic, or fun.

Because that is obviously not the game PGI wants to put out there. Thy clearly stated in word and now aciton that the poptart meta was not ok. It can be argued that they are responding to the majority of the users or what they think its in the best intersts of the game/company.

But we cant say that for sure, and it really doesn't matter.

Let's just move on

We played for about six hours, on every bracket, with old people, good people, new people, and average people I didn't see a single successful poptart.

It was fun.
