In pugging land there is a place where Medium mechs play together. Assaults are rare, heavies are few and lights often stand still to line up their shots.

It is a real place.

Your Atlas will be sent there at the first sign of trying to boat large pulse lasers.

Be afraid...

Been there. It's loads of fun when the largest mech of both sides is an LRM catapult, where a plethora of light and medium mechs find themselves in the field on a conquest mission.

Yes. A few times I've played with/against premades that dropped in all mediums. It makes for a very different and interesting game.

I am a on prolonged visit to the aforementioned land, trying to grind my Trebuchets... When I drop with a lot of mediums and lights on both sides, it is extremely fun. When I am the only medium on the field among heavies and assaults... let's just say I am happy it ends fast for me.

My elo seems a bit different. I always have at least 3 assaults in my team, always. No matter which class I'm piloting. Even now after patch (before it was much worse still)

Since the patch, I have seen an average of 3-4 mediums per team. Mostly Cents and Hunchies.

Mediums are back.

Its a real place and I wish me and okay-but-meh Hunchbacks, Big & Tall XXXXL Centurions and Trebs and dungeon gimp BJs could play there all the time.

It may be filled with newbies, rambos, joystick users and the Unskilled™ but I'll be damned if it doesn't show this game has some potential to actually be fun.

Then I drop in a Jager with a team made of 4 Atlases, 2 Stalkers a single Raven and me. And the dream is over.

What MWO really needs is the ability for players to create games that others can then join.

A "Foundry" system would be pretty cool... once we have a full game to work with. :)

Why are you assuming playing a medium mech means you are bad? I play mediums because they are the mechs I do the best with, and it shows when I play. Even if I don't get the most kills I'm regularly in the top half of my team for damage numbers (if not at the top). And that's saying something when your only weapons are a couple AC2s and 4MLs.

928dmg in a 4ml2srm6-4sp on alpine last weekend.

It was a knock-down-drag out, I survived with no part of me not cored, half-hunched, the works...

...I was there, on the sunny beaches of medium-mech-land, and it was beautiful...

I once dropped in a random 6-light-mech match in my Jenner. Once the two teams met up the scrum was glorious.

I had a pretty vicious brawlfest on canyon network's theta point earlier today with my BJ-1, saw everything ranging from a spider to a highlander running around fighting in those tight quarters, only thing hanging in the back was a enemy stalker and he got roflstomped when two guys got tired of him taking pot shots at them. I dropped a jagermech before running out of ammo and playing ring around the rosey with the highlander so he couldnt cap the point XD it was pretty grueling, we did finally kill them all shortly after I went down.

I've seen a spike in them lately, and I'm working to roll out the ol' Hunchbacks now that I have a better chance of doing something before eating 16+ PPC's from jump-snipers to the face. The most fun games are, too me, the ones with a good mix of mediums and heavies. You have a nice mix of movement and weapon variety vs. alpha-boat assaults and insanely fast "squirrelly" lights.

The game still has a ways to go to get Mediums up to where they should be. A reduction in the perfect convergence effects of weapons will bury the super-snipers, and I really wish they'd do something to properly scale the Centurion and the Tebuchet - it's crazy seeing them stand there like 80+ ton assaults next to Highlanders. That being said, this latest patch was a nice step in the right direction and the game feels far more like Mechwarrior than it has in a while.

I'm not saying you suck. I'm saying you're a long way from optimal.

Everyone not playing a 6PPC or 4erPPC stalker is a long way from optimal then?

i guess it's also sad for you PGI nerfed the Optimal poptarting builds or it's just my imagination?

Sorry but Med have their place and they work, granted sometimes you need a heavier chassis or a friend to work along but if you think they suck because they can't go 1v1 against heavier Mechs then it's your pilot mentality far from optimal too.

So, you're saying that the majority of Medium Pilots exhibit the same "skill" as Light pilots that hold still to fire, and Assault Mechs that use poor loadouts?

I know of this other land, too. It's a land where the birds play together. Constructive threads are few, and the trolls line up to post their comments.

It is a real place.

Your thread will be sent there at first sign of deliberately insulting a large fraction of the playerbase...

Bring birdseed...

I do not suggest that medium pilots are unskilled. That actually seam to be more reliably competent in that bracket. They just have less ability to swing matches in their favour. Just due to hardware.

This is an observation of a behaviour of ELO.

And I can hardly speak for the majority. I can only say many.

Are you suggesting that I am suggesting that this is bad?

I was suggesting that grinding some mediums could get you into some interesting matches and away from people that chase the current fad builds. In a humorous manner of course.
