Every game "room" runs on an independent virtual server. Once one match is done, the server rotates to the next map in the list.
Each server resets the map list every time a new patch rolls out.
On the first day of the patch, it is rare to see the same map twice in a row. However, with the slight variations in match delay, the next 2-3 days after a patch, you can often see the same map many times in a row. Give it 4-5 more days, and everything will straighten itself out. As time goes on, the rotation becomes more varied because of the difference in time it takes for matches to resolve.
When certain maps need additional telemetry, they are added multiple times to the Master Map List.

The O.P.'s idea has been stated before, they don't want people choosing maps unless you're doing community warfare.

I'm also starting to think about quitting maps that I'm sick of, which will put my team a man down.
The ability to deselect maps you don't want to play would be nice.

Yes, actually, I do. I kind of miss it, since there were three maps in rotation- played tonight and got 12 straight games of Terra Therma and Tourmaline. 12 games in a row on hot, wide-open, huge maps. I look back at those three maps and wonder why they never come up in rotation, and wonder how there could be so much variation between the three and so little between the newer maps.
I guess it could be worse. At least Alpine rarely comes up anymore.

Thats right tourmaline 702 times.
And i am amazingly sick of that map.
Especially as of late it goes Terra>Terra>Terra>Terra>Tourmaline then back to fudging Terra Therma.
