I guess it depends on preference between Energy and Ballistic.

I've seen some mighty annoying (and effective) DD builds that combine varying numbers of MGs, UACs, and LPLs though; might be a fun option.

2X AC5
4X medium laser
AMS
4 tons ac5 ammo
Standard 300 engine
10 derple heatsinks
Ferro
Endo
Moves quick, runs cool, has plenty of ammo, and can do unspeakable things to hunchbacks.

Reasonable is the key word, Gigastrike also used this word... it may be fun to try weird builds like 6MG but make a reasonable and viable, not sure.

Where do we find such stats? I usually look on Smurfy and I see twist degrees but nothing about twist speed.
The S is also much cheaper so I will get the DD to get XP and will finish with the S and unluck Elite with it.

If I had to rank the jagers I would say:
1. JM6-FB
2. JM6-A
3. JM6-S
4. JM6-DD

The extra energy is more useful than the extra dakka, though it pains me to say.

If you're feeling more adventurous than get the DD variant. 3 AC2s in one arm and an Gauss in the other arm. Put in an XL engine. There you go, long rang fire suppression and, IMHO, the only real way to make use of the 3 ballistic slots. To get your money's worth be sure yo change which arm as what every so often.

JM6-S - Dual Guass 2 Medlas
JM6-D - Dual AC/20 2 Medlas
JM6-A - Streaks/AC5
Above order. Firebrand by far is the best. I love charging stalkers with the uac5 dakka, sure as hell freaks pilots out

You can do the same as you can with the DD, but I found that you couldn't do much with the 6 ballistics except for 6 ac2 or 6 mg's. If you're into novelty builds like that, then DD's is your puppy. But the extra energy slots in the S make it a lot more fun.
I've made these builds is my S:
- (x4) Med Laser + (x2) LB10-X (Or swap with UAC/5)
- (x2) AC/20
- (x4) Machine Gun + (x2) Large Laser + (x2) Large Pulse Laser (Or swap with (x2) Large Laser)
- (x4) UAC/5
and a plethora of different other mixes and matches. The S is a lot more fun. I wouldn't know why you would want 6 mg slots unless you want the LOL's. I pump out amazing damage with my current (x4) AC/2 + (x4) Medium Laser build.
I haven't tried the Firebrand, yet, but I plan to buy it when it goes on sale.

Like you I was looking for the last to Elite and after asking here I decided that it will be the S so I 1st took the A and in 2nd the DD that I've played a bit now. I can give you this build that works pretty nicely. It's nice when you get one on one. What I like is that I can Alpha almost continuously until dead. I can destroy a HBK pretty fast, for some other I prefer to shoot the legs.
The DD come with Ferro so I kept it and switched the engine for a STD 200 I had, I don't mind 5Km/h less. I lowered armor a bit in legs and head to add another AC/5 ammo.
Let me know if you give it a try!

A pair of UACs and either 4 med Las, or 6 med las (with the fb) is devastating.

Less twist on a far more flexible platform; the missiles give you so many load out options.
EDIT: and imo, it's the best looking variant, those missile pods look cool.

Nice! I just may, at that!

I recently settled, after a bunch of iterations (1xAC/20, 2xAC/2's, 2 ML's. 1xLBX/10, 2xMG, 2xAC/2, 2xML, etc, etc, etc...) on:
(note: this is my usual paraphrasing, since i don't have the game client up and am too lazy to do it in smurfy.)
JM6-DD
Ferro Armor (added 'bout 2.5t)
15 or so Standard HS
Standard Structure
XL260 engine
2xAC/5 (1 per arm), w/3t or 4t ammo. Not Dakka-Dakka, more like Ka-POW! Ka-POW!
2xMPL Pew! Pew!
4xMG w/1t of ammo (2 per arm) Ratta-tatta-tattta-tat!
AMS w/1t ammo
Beagle Sensor
The 2 AC/5's give me decent range, OK combined dmg and good rate of fire. They aren't as dakka as the AC/2's or UAC/5's, nor are they as imposing as the AC/10 or AC/20, or as satisfying as watching a mech get lit up by an LBX. AC/5's just do the job.
For up close stuff, the 2 MPL's give really nice damage for punching through already weakened armor and a good refresh rate.
The MG's? I had the mounting pounts, I love the sound, and maybe, just MAYBE, I'll get lucky and they'll do something interesting in the holes the AC's and the MPL's have made. I am not holding my breathe on that, though.
AMS & Beagle 'cause I had the space, I want to stay alive a little longer (AMS) and ECM equipped lights suck (Beagle). Er, at least when they aren't on MY side. Hah!
But I'll try the triple AC/5, or a variation of it, and see what it does!

One of the reasons the Dakkaback works well, when it works, is that all 3 ACs are in the same mounting point. Weapons conversion is instant, pretty much. You're doing 12dps on someone's CT or rear armor or wherever if they are silly enough to get into your LOS.
So, with the DD, I mounted all 3 AC/2's on the RA. It's a risk. Lose the RA, lose your cannons. But, also, it allows me to essentially "peak" around a corner with only the arm and part of the torso exposed. DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA!
On the LA I crammed in 3 MG's (why not?) and the 2 torso energy hardpoints are trusty 'ol ML's. I upgraded to DHS (15 of them) and ferro armor (374 points). I kept the Beagle, too. And, with all that, the internal slots are all used up.

I realize it isn't a build for everyone, but so far it's been a pretty good amount of fun!
