I understand that JJ sniping combined with newly accurate ballistics and ppc's took this game to a really bad place. The fighting consisted of stale long range standoffs and led players to heavy chassis to compensate for high damage. Meanwhile, the light's were keeping their heads down and trying to find something useful to do on a high alpha battlefield. Now that cockpit shake has been added JJ sniping has decreased but the heavy high alpha builds are still prevalent. As an insult to injury lights have to suffer cockpit shake while jumping. Most of the lights handle this well but one in particular feels neutered. The Spider. It's a great scout and harasser but we all know that it is rather lacking as a combatant. The hard points and low tonnage are very restrictive. Not to mention it lacks missile hard points and its armor is quite thin. the largest alpha I can accomplish is a whopping 18 with 3 Med Pulse. This mech is already really difficult to do well in. It relies on jump jets very heavily. Actually, the Spider's vertical ability is it's one saving grace. A good pilot can take this mech to new heights and accomplish everything the other lights can. It's already difficult to pilot this mech and with this latest patch it's even more difficult. I hardly see the point in adding cockpit shake to a mech with such a low alpha just to put an end to JJ sniping. It seems like an unfortunate casualty.

I agree. Jumping light/medium didn't break balance, heavy/assault jumpsnipers - yes, they did.
Why should PGI nerf them? This patch jsut cut of half of tactics =(.

I think scouts should still get it just not as badly, obviously the heavier the mech the more force needed to lift it, so with more jump jets and less weight you should shake less.

However you should not be able to poptart like before, that took alot of the thrill out when both sides stopped a klik from each other and jumped up and down.

We just got dynamic fights back let's not spoil that.

I'll admit, I haven't tried Spiders after patch. Does the shake get worse with more JJs or something? With heavies and assaults JJing you can still hit stuff OKish with lasers, since those don't shake after you fire and it's pretty easy to correct the beam to hit wherever you want. I'd imagine that in the ranges of MPL (with less shake, like lights were supposed to have) this would be even less of an issue?

For jumpsnipe ERPPC spiders, those were just stupid and it's in everyone's best interests that they stay gone. :P

I kinda agree. I generally don't drive lights, but I think the amount of shake should scale up in line with mass. Sump shooting is almost essential for good Spider Piloting. I am all for SOME shake on the little guy, but not the rock em sock em stuff they get now.

Also, IMO, ballistic and missile weapons recoil impulse should partially twist and screw with trajectory. And PPCs have recoil too, so for this purpose, count em as a ballistic.

Ahhhh.. I 'm guessing my buddy DEX47 killed you too many times? At least those took SKILL to use unlike Poptarts. (and no I don't refer to the tards who tried poptarting in spiders, but the people who mastered midair turnaround and shoot your slow pursuers)

Spider 5D is now completely worthless and joins the ranks of it's variant brethren. I ran the popular ERPPC 5D build and you just can't hit with the erppc, plus waiting 4 seconds to fire again means it's staying in the mechbay for the foreseeable future.

Jenner with lasers is not impacted as much because you can still track with lasers through the shake.

Well, even though I loved my spider, in the scheme of things, I'd rather lose the spiders if it means reducing the effectiveness of the Phract-3D and HGN. The 'greater good' and all that.

Regarding the OP, yes the JJ nerf on lights is justified.

Bottom line is enough people whined about mechs that shoot while they jump. Getting killed by an annoying JJing pissant light is even more frustrating than getting killed by a long range poptart. At least you can get away from the poptart. Once the annoying light is on you, you can't get away and you can't even hit it unless you get lucky or the light pilot is a derp.

You guys can't have it both ways. Put on a fresh pair of diapers and suck it up.

I'm not one of the people who used the erppc spider. I run ecm and 3 med pulse. I'm hardly a nuisance but now my fun and enjoyment have been strangled in order to please the masses. Thanks alot. No more mc purchases for me.
