No, they have stated as much. As long as the game is alive more mechs will be added. At least a new one every month. Two more years and we will have at least 24 more mechs than we have now. (They also stated they are bumping it up to two a month after we go live sometime (possibly end of fall).

At least the Flea has a thing (MASC). We're getting the bloody Victor where we could've had the King Crab. Because we didn't have enough airborne gauss assaults, clearly.

Cause of the variety? I rather see 5 Mechs being the same, with diffrent Looks than everyone piloting the same.

Indeed. MMO's like Eve have lasted a long time and have made many additions every year. If MWO actually lasts 10 years, I'd expect to have more era's (like the Jihad, or even early Succession Wars) and mechs by that time. Part of MWO's success is yet to be determined, but we're all hanging on for the ride.

Number one Reason:

High mounted weapons on a light mech.

Thing is going to pop up like a Gopher everywhere, unload and slink back below the line of cover.

Why aren't we getting a more classic light such as the Panther? Or, given the time line, the Wolfhound which just enters production on the eve of the Clan Invasion?

Because once you got FLEA you have IMPERIAL AT-ST. IT opens a door to Star Wars vs Mechwarrior :D

In a alternate reality there was a imperial invasion mechwarrior never recovered from.


Imagine when you drop in to some 12-man IMPERIAL FLEA squad........ it will be a nightmare.

I can't decide between a white stormtrooper flea or like the battleship looking color.

Just like the cicada X-5 or the 1xBJ we just need some "protoype" quad-mechs for AT-ATs. and I think at-st had missle hardpoint on the arm.....

The Flea is the "we know it better" Mech.

Wait didn't we have this kind of discussion when the Spider got released? Like there's no place for such a Mech? But the Spider has a place these days and I actually see more Spiders than Ravens in the matches.

It has a big number of Energy Hardpoints and is going to be damn fast. Let's just wait for the Flea and test it first before we condemn it.

At this point they are probably waiting to fix 2 things:
-The UI (UI 2.0 coming soonTM), since they have to add MASC as an upgrade most likely
-Fix netcode - hit recognition is still not that great, and it would be TERRIBLE with a Flea running around

Why do we need the Flea? Because somewhere out there, maybe in PGI headquarters, maybe on this forum, maybe in this very thread, is a mechwarrior just dying to say "I killed your Atlas with a 20t Flea!"

The only way you're carting around an AC/20 with a Flea is if you wrap a cable around it and tug it behind you on a flatbed.

Nerd correction. Flea is more akin to a Star Wars AT-PT.

The least armed Flea (FLE-4) has four energy hardpoints.
The FLE-17 has five energy hardpoints, and the FLE-15 has five energy and two ballistic.

All of these can easily run a max engine (XL170 for 137.7 pre-tweak speed), use ES and DHS, and fill their hardpoints with MLs. In the case of the FLE-15, you'd have to settle for five SL if you also want two MG.

It's a small 'mech with little armour, but it will pack a punch way over its weight class.
