Beagle Active Probe = Useless

I was wondering what is the point of having this piece of scrap where it is short range, does not work when an ECM field is around and half of the time you are seeing blind? And it weight 1 and a half tons? I decide to sell it.

If you have long range build then BAP is indeed not needed.

It is chiefly a counter against ECM when using SSRMs but only within 150 range--which is laughable on slower mechs.

I use BAP on LRM boats to keep my LRMs active when an ECM player tries to shut me down by denying me the ability to lock targets farther out on the battlefield.

BAP can be useful on long range builds.

Never faced such situation. Usually I am in the middle of my blob of allies when I boat LRMs.

It speeds lockon.
It increases sensor range.
If speeds information gathering when targeting someone.
It counters a single enemy ECM within it's bubble.

I dunno, sounds pretty good for 2crits and 1.5tons to me.

At 180+ you can lock on again, how is that laughable?

Also, as stated before, helps LRM boats from being unable to lock on when enemy ECM 'Mech is nearby. Plus gives some extra bonuses. All in all, hardly useless.

indeed i also sold that useless scrap metal along with the arm/legs actuators.

I find it extremely useful against scouts, they can't bank on ecm alone protecting them.

Yup, and as a scout, I find it useful against enemy mechs that think I can't see them because of their ECM's.

I find BAP very helpful in my Jenner against hot D-DC builds. Cancels ECM and allows my Streaks to keep flying every time those ER PPCs and SRM 6s make him shut down. Also helps keep up spotting for missiles vs. light ECM scouts.

if I got SSRMs, I gots me some BAP with em. Great way to pile extra hurt on those stupid AlphaWarriors who keep shutting down!
