For balance purposes:
IS mechs continue with the current customization options
Clan mechs would be limited to the variants available in the tech readouts

By doing this, a clanner has /needs no access to the mechbay, because those exact same variants are almost guaranteed to be the basis for the 3 variants needed to master a chassis.... Meaning clanners must use completely stock configurations with no real possibility for any sort of customization, forcing them to purchase numerous nearly identical mechs and carry weapons they don`t necessarily want, while the IS pilots can continue to min-max to their heart`s content and only need to buy one variant of most chassis (siince they can take whatever weapons fit the hardpoints, regardless of whether a gauss rifle is bigger than an MG or not)? 0.o

Quote

Flavor/Lore connection:
IS mechs (for mercs at least) are their personal ride and open to customization. Any and all builds would be viable since they own it themselves and command would want them in rides they feel they were effective in. (and I know, this doesn't really cover the 6 MG jagers and such...)
Clan mechs and their rigid society have developed configurations of each mech for specific scenarios. When they are prepared for drop, the tech class receives orders from the commander on which variant to out fit each mech.

This is incorrect. Clan PILOTS had infinitely more control over their weapons loadouts than IS pilots had. Otherwise configurations such as `Tashas Widowmaker and Phelan`s Lone Wolf (Dire Wolves), Aidan`s Pryde (Timber Wolf), or Aletha`s Fire Moth would not exist. Considering that Kell used his Lone Wolf alongside the Widowmaker in a TRIAL OF POSITION, that says that they were allowed to customize their personal loadouts even before attaining Mechwarrior status.

Clanners could not alter the internals and hardwired weapons of their mechs, or reconfigure armor and engine size. But the podspace is a free for all.

On the other hand completely rebuilding an IS mech with Lostech and and entirely different weapons loadout took MONTHS, niot minutes.

It`s probably inadvertent, but you are essentially suggesting that actual lore be reversed 100%, where clanners with quickly and individually customizable builds went up against stock IS mechs for the most part are now the ones chained to bone-stock configurations, while the IS polits can all configure their mechs as if they were practically a limited form of super Omnimech with only weapon hardpoint type specified and everything else customizable to whatever degree desired..

I don´t know if it`s apparent, but I am highly opposed to this, from a lore perspective and from a gameplay perspective. Not allowing clanners to do the one thing their mechs were purpose designed to do, customize their loadouts, is a guaranteed way to drive anybody who is a clanner out of conviction (as opposed to "I wanna be OP") away from MWO permanently.

I highly doubt we will see Clans Invasion this year. With recently announced Project Phoenix, Community Warfare to be released in August and already mentioned plans for bugs/tunings, it leaves no resources for Clans side at all, I'm afraid. Of course we know that some of promises could become fake, but it still leaves not much chances to Clans this year. All this makes me sad. I hoped for Clans Tech promo action instead of that Phoenix one.

Why would you think it's coming this year? They've already said 3rd-4th quarter after release which puts it at summer of next year

You probably wont be able to change engines/internal structures. Those two things alone go a long way towards balance.

PGI opened a huge can of worms by allowing us to customize Inner Sphere 'Mechs to the level that we can today. I agree that OmniMechs should only be allowed to change the weapon configuration (although without any hard point restrictions like the IS 'Mechs have).

You are sooo behind, mate. I've been saying for some time now (at least since Feb 2013) that Spring 2014 is the earliest we'll see The Clans.

I wonder if there could be anything to having the Clans stuck with limited to no customization as a way to keep players from jumping Factions wholesale over to one of the four invading Clans in order to get Clan tech.

In other words, you have no idea what the difference between omnimech and battlemech is?

There's one thing I have learned since dealing with this developer from closed beta. Close your ears and only submit to what your eyes can see before you. Otherwise, you'll just become frustrated with said developer and probably never return. I've already stopped purchasing MCredits and refuse to buy more until this game is hack free and many improvements have been made.

I am sick of the lies and their words meaning nothing to me any longer. Not to mention the fact everyone seems to have turned a blind eye to all the working hacks out there for MW:O... they've a long way to go before they receive another penny from me.

I haven't followed MWO news and updates for few months and all the more so for your posts, and it seams to me that you think too high of yourself expecting anyone following your posts (bloody hell, 2200++). So it looks that I really missed or skipped some critical scruples of information about Clans.

"Look at the bright side, kid..." Clans will be done properly after Community Warfare would be polished, my best hope could become true.

So my question was submitted by IGP staff from ATD #41 because it was a good question. My question, was regarding an update to the ATD #31 excerpt about omnimechs.

From the most recent ATD #41 find where it says "not answering anything about CW/Clans - then read down 5 or so lines and see a question answered about CLANS.

Obvious dodge was obvious.

Reread your post. Then start reading this thread from the beginning. Also, use the search function once you hit a wall about something.

I do indeed think highly of myself, but I am not so conceited to think myself better than everybody else (which you give the impression of) At my age, I have earned some self respect. I have done much, even earned the "Legion of Merit" during my 20 years service in the Army.

Oh, and by "seams" (the word you used above which is a thing you find associated with clothing), I think you meant "seems" as in "appears to be". I at least know how to spell. And not only in English.

And right next it goes your attempt to prove your superiority over some forum being like me, you even try to use the domain of foreign for me language as a prove, nicely done.

mr. Johns, I am from hereditary military family and I have some respect for people in age, especially military men, but your words look to me like words of overweening person, too blind to everyone else around, what makes people ignorant usually. It's internetz and there are many opinions around. Want to speak about respect from ages? My ancestor (one of them of course) served as man-at-arms in17th c. and gave birth to our clan. My family history is older than your entire state, my gran-grandfather and grandmother had taught me of our family traditions, though I don't usually follow them all, to be honest.
I have lot of self respect from age and merits of my family and my own achievements as well, you are not alone with such a great trait, your 20 years of service don't make you something very special and don't give any right to point at people like you do.

I'm ready to forget our small discordance. Let's agree, that you knew about Clans Invasion delay since Feb (?) and I didn't, now I know it and even discovered, that I made mistake in 'seems', thanks for being so kind to lighten me. Next conversation if it's needed, should be continued in PM, I believe.

Edit: minor spelling fixes.

Let me be clear, I predicted, based on the way PGI has been handling things, the delay of Clan implementation I had no foreknowledge, just analysis.

Also, you gave no indication of nationality.

PMs are good.
