- you are developing a SHOOTER
- I have approx 9ms ping
- I regularly hit targets that are cored forever (or not) and get no hit registration in crosshairs or paper doll

THIS SHOULD BE YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY ABOVE ALL ELSE. If you can' make you hit reg work then you will get absolutely trashed in reviews at launch and you will **** off everyone who tries your game ( myself included, though I love mechs so I'm sticking around awhile longer than most)

Chill, man. The best way is to submit a support ticket and attach video evidence of it, not rage on the forums.

I have a ping of 150ms and the hit registration has been tremendously better than in Closed Beta. My PPC hit registration is very close to 100% correlation with what I see in-game. Ballistics and LRMs however seem to still have a little problem.

Uhm...if you wanted to tell us a fairy tale, you could at least make it plausible - PPCs use the same internal game mechanic as ballistics, so their hit reg is exactly the same (and it's nowhere near 100%).

Hit registration and HSR bug is real and affects all weapon types. I have already submitted a support ticket for it. I had to stop playing until it is fixed.

I've been playing since Flame and Fang was released, pretty decent pilot and a good shot - I eat light mechs for breakfast. Now it took me forever to hit one - most of the time I do no damage to them. I tried to play the game despite the HSR bug, but yesterday I cannot do any damage to a stationary raven with one leg. Some noob called me the worst pilot he ever seen... lol

If you are experiencing the same bug, please submit a ticket. Hopefully more tickets give them more data to work with and also elevate the problem and get it fix faster.

The support guy requested gameplay videos from me and I will link them here to acknowledge your assertion.

But getting angry and being negative won't help the matter. Just create a ticket and help them help make the game better.

I see what you mean, that hit registration is way off.

There has to be something causing the difference in hit registration though, as those videos are not replicated on my side. If it's ping, I'm in the UK and getting >150ms, but still I don't get anything close to that bad. I can upload a few gameplay videos for comparison (may take a while).

my ping is 9 ms and I regularly get misses on point blank targets standing still

Have same problem, I can say that I was able to hit more at C.B than now. At least, at Point Blank I was able to hit in C.B instead of now. I'm with you.

I live very close to RG (I'm guessing you are downtown Toronto or at least GTA and I'm in Sauga) and usually have a 10-12 ping. I find PPCs and ERPPCs miss a LOT as do my UAC5s and pretty much any major ballistic I fire.

I run about 60-80 ping the hit detection is so bad im about ready to bail the game. Today I was playing a match with Niki Snow he came up a hill around a corner and I nailed him with 3 alpha shots in my highlander he was in his jaeger and he takes no damage then kills me in one shot. The only consolation I got was just after he killed me a light back shot him to death and he did not even know it was there hahahahha. I bet he wished he had the 360 degree short range radar that should have come standard on all mechs. Instead its a stupid module you have to buy or GXP. The thing is mechs except for lights need to be more maneuverable as well as the hit detection fixed for me to want to continue playing MWO for much longer.

I have this problem quite often. I have a ping of around 60ish and when the game has players with much over 150 ping my hits don't register about half the time once it gets up to 300ish they almost always miss.

I have the same issues. The HSR patches helped a lot in hitting moving targets, but hit detection is way off. I stopped using PPCs because of the frustration they caused when a full volley into the chest of an oncoming Atlas was completely ignored. I've been on the receiving end as well, once I killed a poptart who fired point blank at my almost dead Atlas, hit for sure but didn't cause any damage whatsoever. To me it seems like too slow update rate on the server missing collisions from fast moving objects or something like that.

This issue is ruining the game for me to be honest. It was ok when you had to lag shoot as at least it connected once you had learnt to do it properly. It's just crazy now, it seems to come in waves and it doesn't matter when the target is moving or not. I regularly get 2 or 3 shots in a row against a target who's stationary that dont register from ~200m. I'm starting to record my games to collect some vids, I'll try and upload the ones from last night from another one of our players but it shows interesting results for lasers. I'm really struggling to find the effort to actually log in at the minute though.

Lasers hitting even a stationary target only seem to put damage down in the last moment of their burn time but it is variable. You can alpha a mech in the back and the paper doll wont flash until the last moment where it apears to put down ~1-2 damage. some times it registers quicker and you may get ~10-12 damage down but your still loosing 50% of you alpha damage.

With ballistics you can just shoot and shoot and nothing registers. 7 times in a row is my record, after the 3rd the guy turned around on the spot and started shooting me back. I was dead by the time my 7th failed to connect.

From a competitive point of view, these issues are game breaking.

Every time I shoot is an important, game changing event.

Everytime a shot misses due to my ineptitude I have something to work on for the future.

Everytime a shot doesn't register due to the netcode I have a little less faith in the ability of MWO to ever have a serious future and a little less desire to invest significant levels of time and further resources in to it.

I completely agree, I wouldn't be so miffed if the devs at least could give us some kind of explanation as to why they think this is happening and a fix ETA... or even that they are working on it period!?

Clear communication with the players has been deemed OP, and was silently nerfed a few patches ago.
