Is there a way I can look through the list of 'Mechs for purchase without actually using an empty mechbay?

You can go to the smurfy website:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...echlab#modified

And play with loadouts. There's a drop down list of available mechs, and you can set them up "default", modify them, or strip them bare and start over again with the "tools" drop down at the top of the screen.

I wish there was a way to "test drive" one before you bought it. Say strictly in the training grounds, get to run it around, check it's heat disapation and firepower, etc. That would be nice.

Does that smurfy site tell you the prices to buy in MC and/or CB? Thats what I need to see.

It even breaks down component and upgrade costs over stock.

Indeed it does.

There's a few others worth mentioning too.

This is a downloadable offline program. There's another but I can't recall it.

Koniving, I checked that program out and downloaded it. Looks pretty cool, but like the smurfy site I just find myself confused on how to effectively incorporate it into my planning and gameplay.
These little "side" programs and websites need some kinda manual or somethin!! :D :(
