Hey just started playing the game a few days ago and thought i'd key in a few things i found with the UI as a new player. First the Social tab is really annoying to use, anytime you do anything an almost invisible(same colors as what was there) box appears telling you that it has been done, and you cannot do anything until it is closed, I would prefer being able to continue doing things when the message appears or changing the color and add some nice bevel to the button to make the message pop out, and how to close it instantly recognizable as even now the close button doesn't seem like a button, doesn't feel clickable.
Then probably the most problematic area for a new person being the loadout, I don't think i'm the best for a new player perspective for this as i did read a very good guide from the new players section where I picked up what hardpoints and the like are. However I would say it is kind of hard at first to realize you can click the mech locations at the bottom left of the screen to see what is in each part, perhaps add a bit more contrast in the location points which would grab the eye early on easier and allow one to instantly recognize they are buttons.

Firstly, welcome to MWO and hope you enjoy your stay!
The UI is getting a total overhaul in the coming few months so hopefully most of what you mentioned will be fixed.
As for the mech loadout, the Devs are coming up with a tutorial for new players which should help with the steep learning curve of MWO

ah good to hear and thanks for the link, seems a lot better though i still think the buttons need more bevel, i find a lot of the buttons in this interface suffers from the Windows 8 syndrome where while not as bad all the buttons are fairly flat making them not feel nearly as clickable as they should be. Seems good and i'll hold off till they release it to post my opinions, hopefully the tutorials work well as it's one of the hardest parts to do well in a game(free to play in particular, as the player feels no attachment yet and looses nothing from just stopping)

In that thread that I linked there's a link to the official feedback thread - feel free to post your suggestions there.
