From my experience on forums, dislike buttons only create issues.

I believe this is for a very good reason. If you agree with something some one has said, you can like that post, and that is essentially you mirroring that post. There is no need for you to post your opinion on the matter because someone else has already posted it.
However, if you disagree with something some one posts, clicking a button and having a little emoticon appear is not sufficient for a forum. If you disagree, you can reply with your point of view. You can say why you disagree, what you disagree with, and what you think and how it contrasts with the post in question.

A little emoticon tells you none of that, and in all honesty, they are usually only used maliciously anyway.

Plus it would be depressing as hell to compare how many people like the A LURM 5 CORED MY ENTIRE TEAM IN ONE VOLLEY posts, to how many downvoted the reasoned refutations.

It would end up like this.

You have a "dislike" button already. It is in your Profile preferences and is called "ignore". Use it. ;)

The problem with dislike buttons is that they've got a lot of margin for abuse. If somebody disagrees with your post, you would probably just hit the dislike button regardless of how well-written or thought out their response was. It pretty much encourages conformity and discourages unpopular ideas, which is kinda a bad thing.

The like button does have the downside of giving attention to posts that don't deserve it, but I honestly think that a bad post with positive rep is better than a good post with negative rep. Like one of the founding fathers of 'Murica once said (something to the effect of): "It is better to let one thousand guilty men go free than to imprison one innocent."

You are right guys, a dislike button creates truely more bad than good.

Thanks for the honest answers.

you can dream about that to abuse it like in WOT
its a reason why it isnt there it is for sure
like in WOT if you add in such a tool
a bad bad bad thing to have in a F2P game forum
since all the whiners and QQers and goons
and griefers will hit you negativ
cuz they can and find enjoyment in it
