What do you guys think about this build?
2xLL
Gauss
LRM20
TAG

I've been having fun with it in the pickup games. Only thing I don't like about it so far is how annoying TAG is to use. On the other hand, without TAG this mech looses roughly 40% of its firepower when faced with ECM.

That is one of the builds I run on my D-DC, except instead of TAG I shave off an extra half ton of armor and use ECM. I really like it.
I find that I don't encounter enemy ECM enough to really worry about not having TAG, but since you're on the RS and have more than two energy slots, it's a great addition, imo.
Since you tend to be in the back with this loadout, by the time the brawlers get to you, they're usually almost completely spent from their brawling and easy pickings for your LLs... especially since you probably still have most of your armor. (If you played it right).

After trying this for a while I've switched back to my old RS build:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0b0c722379c219d
4xLL + Gauss. 51 pt damage delivered reliably to the same hit point from 450 m. So far I've been getting a lot of damage and killing a lot of mechs in pickup games.

Best atlas rs build around. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...394fa58063a6a84
at least imo, i can snipe and because of 19dhs i can brawl extremely well also. Brawler-er version http://mwo.smurfy-ne...87a1a2da2ef4d69

I ran the quad large for a long time, but the heat just gets you killed if you get caught up close (no matter how many sinks you have, I even tried replacing the AC20 with sinks!). DPS drops to 3-4 in brawls and if you lose the AC20 then you just have hot lasers you can't fully use.
I run this

Ferro to keep you alive longer, LRM at the start with a bit more punch and plenty of ammo, the meds are nice and cool for brawls and the large gives you a bit more range to sting lights and anyone popping their head out. AC20 helps you close out the game in combo with the lasers (I tend to run a few shots of Large and pop the meds every other shot when the heat drops enough.

My dear sir that's what the Gauss is for! It has virtually no heat output so the shot comes free. What I do is put the LL on the two arms on two firing buttons, and the Gauss on the third. On cold maps it's all 4 LL + Gauss together, then when I get near overheating, Gauss twice, then LL again.
On hotter maps fire in sequence: Left arm, right arm, Gauss, repeat. If you overheat, 2 rounds of Gauss again. Works well if you can aim well enough to hit the same spot with your LLs. So far most enemies have died rather quickly.

Haha, not bad. This build will be a nasty surprise on the battle field. You see an LRM atlas and close in to braw, then the AC/20 and the lasers open up on you.

You can save weight by swapping the LRM 20 for one or two smaller launchers. Given the layout of the missile tubes, there's not actually much difference between one LRM20 volley and several LRM5s.

Swap the ferro for endo, and you'll have a few more tons to work with. Ferro doesn't increase your armor cap, it just makes your armor slightly lighter; endo is always better.
