Just what ti says.

Can't seem to open the folder to adjust field of view since I had to re-install on the last frikking patch. Getting tired of running around with my face smushed on the cockpit.

You can't open the folder, or you can't find the user.cfg file? The file may not be there, but you can just make a text file (like with Notepad, Wordpad, or Notepad++), put cl_fov = 70 in, save it, then change the name to user.cfg (make sure you change the extension from .txt to .cfg)

Should work. My user.cfg is still the same and the FOV setting I have in there is still working.

Directory would be wherever you installed the game and the file's location should be like this: \MechWarrior Online\user.cfg

To be really specific, the user.cfg file goes in the same place as the system.cfg systemoverride.cfg, outside of all of the subdirectories (Bin32, Engine, Game, LogBackups, USER)


Edit: Obviously, change the 70 I use to your preferred value.

can't access that. finally got to the folders, go to my profile and it loads some online stuff. Acting totally wonky.

I'm with you man, The default FOV just feels terrible.

It's not called User.cfg anymore. It's Override.cfg and in the file it states "Do not alter this file"

But it can still be done. Will I get in trouble if I tell how?

I still have a User.cfg , however it seems to not be affecting my FOV anymore. Back to the default FOV even though my user.cfg has cl_fov = 70 in it. I mean, I'll adapt, but it was nice being able to change it.

Not entirely sure if the client isn't reading it or what the issue is, but it was pretty apparent when I hopped on MWO today (hadn't played for awhile). Felt like my Hunchback's arm lasers were coming from its lower side torsos (and this is a Hunchback 4SP we're talking about, doesn't have energy mountings that low on the torso).

Mine works. I just made the file in notepad and saved it. I'll have to look at it when I get home to give specifics

I might try it out but I wonder if it is considered a exploite. Offical answer would be nice.

user.cfg file editing is allowed. Not sure why mine stopped working out of the blue, though. Weird. I might try a repair, or if all else fails, a reinstall.

Well went in to try to adjust mine to check it out and for some odd reason my user.cfg file is completely blank. I also tried to make a file in notepad, add the line and replace my user.cfg file with it, still no change in game.

Guess it is only working for some people....odd.

after a complete re-install I was able to get it done, but some of the "name locations" are different in the "mod tree" and so had to kinda get walked thru a long way around to get there by a more computer savvy friend.

what do u mean by name locations and mod tree? did they update the folder structure? would be nice if you could tell us what made it work for you so i can change my fov guide

I would like to be able to slew my pilot's head location back. Like those world war 2 flight sims where you can set the head position.

It really sucks to have the pilot's nose an inch from the glass... I want to see the cockpit and the displays and a bit of the side windows on my peripheral vision.

FOV settings don't do that
