I really wanted to see if I could complete the Assault/Conquest challenge, but after the first night I had 8 games and only 1 win. So, yeah...I decided to stop now and save the rest of my precious weeknight free time for other things. I want to rage about matchmaker or any number of other things, but to be honest, I had really good games - It's just that my team barely won one of them.

Needless to say, at the rate I was "winning" last night, it'd take me 140 matches to get my 20 wins and I just don't have that kind of time anymore. My W/L and K/D is in the 2.0 range, so I have no clue wtf was going on last night, but it was nothing short of brutal. It's a shame, I got that 3050 hologram from the last challenge, but I would've preferred that medal and .50 cal.

It's probably intentional, but do you think PGI could try and let this span the weekend a bit? I've got a job and a wedding to plan. My weekday free time is almost non-existent and it makes getting in these games a PITA.

The affirmative action matchmaker is broke as sh*T!!!

The only reason Im even playing now is this challenge. When its done, I'm on mw vacation again. Thats why they are doing so many challenges. Not to test but to bring back numbers so they can test.

Seph, it's on the first page of your stats page...a tab listed as "challenges."

Shame OP. I'm just an average pilot and I finished my 20 wins in 33 matches yesterday afternoon and evening playing casually and a handful of matches during the Comstar Irregulars' Tuesday night "Scramble Event" which was alot of fun.

Just get on one of the TS servers, pair up with some random folks, make some new acquaintances and let the wins/losses fall where they may. No need to pressure yourself worrying about wins. They'll come eventually man. Just have some fun and don't sweat it too much.

I'm 1/3 of the way there after one short session of play. This one is following the pattern of the last one where for some reason getting wins seems to have gotten a lot harder.

I've already seen the return of the "charge of the light brigade of base cappers" too: a lance of 3L's and 3M's who's sole purpose is to cap as fast as possible for a win.

Yeah, I did alright on the 25 win challenge last week. And I've got two buddies who I usually 3 man with. Ironically, I think our games are harder when I go with them, because playing solo and/or with only 1 of them (only two of us, not all three of us) we seem to do better. It's whenever all three of us are in a group, the games get really tough.

CHALLENGE COMPLETE!

...and yes the matchmaker is BROKEN AS BROKE GETS!

The matchmaker needs to keep 3 brackets. High, mid and low. People with low elo or high should NEVER be matched with the pallor opposite! That children is what we call affirmative action. It does not work and is FAR from fair.

Well Shadow, I hope you end up brushing off the bad vibes from the negative streak and get back after it man. Good luck. (Don't feel too bad. During the 25 win streak I couldn't stay connected for more than 8 games until the last day of it and couldn't muster up enough matches to reach that relatively minor stat!)

I am one of the people Shadow plays with regularly. Those games were brutal, but we as a (3 man) group did fine. I don't want to sound elitist, because my stats are nowhere near amazing, but I wonder if when we 3 play together our ELO is decent to high, and it drops us with 5 mouthbreathers to balance out against 8 average folk.

I just listen to this on infinite loop when I PUG solo.

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, it's - all - the same to me
The pleasure is to play, it makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

I did great in the 25 win challange. This one? I played 5 hours yesterday and managed 5 wins. Its frustrating because I used to have a K/D raito of 3. with my Atlas DC. In one week its dropped to 1.45 and is still dropping. I guess its Karma or the ELO coming out in force to ******* in the ***.

As far as this challange goes? Yeah its a bust for me unless something amazing happens today and tomorrow.

I got it completed last night. I was off to a great start with several consecutive wins, but had a pretty bad losing streak for an hour or two. Then went back to wining most of my matches....

....had to change up what mechs I was running and my play style. The try hards were out in force. Full light lances looking for easy cap victories, the woefully inadequate house lances failing with their 4 ECM mechs. Seriously, WTH is with the full ECM lances with those two houses? You'd think any group that fails at a 'strategy' over and over, as much as you can call going all ECM a strategy, would realize it just isn't that effective without sound game play to back it up.

The try hards were pretty easy to deal with, being so desperate for wins they made way to many stupid mistakes trying to get a quick victory. There were more genuinely good players running in groups that made wins a little tougher to get than usual though....

Probably took me about 4 or 5 hours with a few 10-15 minutes breaks thrown in.

EDIT: Yeah, ELO can sometimes place you with some blisteringly stupid teammates and seems to like doing it for about a dozen rounds. I find that switching weight classes or gametype and waiting about 3 minutes after a few of those matches will put you far enough out of sync with the crowd you were stuck with to break the cycle.

Sorry, it was me. My W/L is less than 1, and my K/D is 0.5, but I won 6 of 8 matches last night.

EDIT for truth:
Of course, to actually get the LAST win took me somewhere around 14 consecutive Conquest losses and finished after 1 AM local...

I have also found my W/L for the first match after re-opening the client is closer to 2 than to 1. Part of my 6 out of 8 was 4 relaunches because I was stop/start playing through the evening due to life happening.

We ran around troll capping in Assault last night, so we got ours pretty easily.

Working on Conquest right now and finding it a little tougher to troll, because everyone is trolling now. It is cool, though, because to troll is to roll in tears and I am good with that.

Good luck, guys!

I'm in the same boat as OP. I don't know what it is, pugging or playing with a group I'm getting STOMPED. Last night with a 3 man team we won 2 out of 9 and one of those was because we all took lights and capped. It always seems one team just blows the other out in an 8-1 or something simliar. Same thing happened during the last challenge. It's like they throw ELO out the window during challenges.

I'm not the best pilot in the world. I'd say I'm middling to good in the light catergory but round after round of getting murdered takes its toll. I just do not have the time or the patience for this crap.

This is my recipe for completing these challenges...

1) Find 3 team mates and make a good 4 man group. If you don't know anyone, or don't have a group you ususally play with then go to one of the public Teamspeaks and find some people to group with.

2) get on Voice comms so you can coordinate in game.

3) Adapt your tactics... If you find you are getting base capped by lights, use your 4 man team for base defense to destroy lights, while the other half of the team hopefully does something productive.

4) Take mobile med heavy mechs so you can adapt your role between base cap or brawling.

5) Profit
