Would it be possible for a mercenary to ever be good enough or loyal enough to be a full member of one of the main IS houses?
Are merc's the dredge of battletech and will always get the crap jobs?
My main question is this: My concern is that if i don't affiliate myself with an IS House from the start, will i miss out on anything fun and or important. Apologize in advance if this has been dealt with already.
Mod feel free to lock this once it has been answered.

This system has not even be fully addressed yet, why make a topic on it? Nothing substantive will come of this thread since its pure speculation.

Well, it happened in the lore and devs mentioned some form of this system when they talked about house/merc/alone affilation in their Dev Blog. We know there are bonuses for being loyal to a house, but we don't know what are they.
Also, I don't think you'll miss anything by becoming a mercenary.

On some level, I've imagined that it might be kind of like EvE, with the major houses essentially being equivalent to the NPC Corps in EvE.
However, based on what little information I've seen, they seem to have included some additional game mechanics for players who are in those houses.
Ultimately though, I don't think you're necessarily "miss out" on stuff by being in one or the other. They'll just be different experiences. I doubt they'll lock you into a particular path either, so you could always change to a different faction later should you want to.
As the other guy said though, it's all pure speculation at this point.
