Plays normal games except there is a 10 million c-bill pool for people who enable high risk mode with a salary evenly divided across all high risk players. i.e. if you're the only one then you get 10 million cbills just for playing. Mechs must be repaired and re-armed, assuming you didn't lose it. Energy weapons degrade over time, doing reduced damage unless repaired. Salvage is real items from mechs you kill that typically must be repaired to avoid doing reduced damage/ longer reload/ etc. Players will attempt to salvage what they kill, lowest weight mech first, but only if there is room on the dropship for it and only if they win (dropship weight is shared across the team). If your mech isn't salvaged as a losing player then you can repair it. Otherwise you lose the mech. 10% chance mechs become unrecoverable from too much damage or perhaps some number weighted by amount of components destroyed. Only alive players get salvage. Players without kills can get salvage from other team kills if the killing player is dead and you have an assist on the kill.

etc. Just jotting down ideas. Obviously would require a bit more thinking than this but the main idea is that you spend a bunch of time in the mech lab, have a high tension fight, then either come out like a loser or like you hit the jackpot. Provides fun for people who enjoy gambling.

The reason I don't want this to be it's own match making pool is because I still want to see mechs that play to win rather than play to survive.

Interesting concept. I think however that your bets should be equal to the cost of your mech, together with all equipment and upgrades. So if your mech is worth 3M, this is your pool. Win - you get something from the battlefield. Lose - your mech is gone. You go in an Atlas, fully upgraded - your pool can be close to 20M. All high risk players are then rewarded based on their contribution, i.e. you cannot win more than your pool, otherwise people would only be piloting lights.

Nobody (enemy or ally) should know who is currently playing at high risk mode, to make the outcome more or less unbiased.

The advantage of taking an atlas, using what I suggested, is that it is least likely to be salvaged due to its weight. Likewise you are less likely to die anyways because you're an atlas and not a mech that can get one-shot. Likewise as an atlas you're more likely to earn salvage if you win since you're getting a bunch of kills. The idea of the fixed c-bill pool is that doing this is a no-brainer if nobody plays it and it's not a good idea if everyone plays it so you end up hitting somewhere in the middle (on average, after a period of time) with half players playing to win and the other half playing to survive/win. 10 million c-bills might be too much/too little to achieve this goal, it's just a number I'm throwing out. Maybe in the future there could be missions where the losing team usually isn't 100% dead (like recon missions) and that could influence the salary amounts including a pay bonus for winning.
