Been looking around since the Sherman Cammo came out.
I have not seen 1 singe mech with a "US WWII" themed paintjob with the white stars.
I have seen (including mine) many Soviet Aircraft style grey/tan cammos with red stars.
I wonder what that says about the MWO community?
I wonder what it says about the 1980's....

I saw Sean Lang running a sherman-painted Blackjack with a white star, but he's a Marine, not a dirty commie *******.

Seems like a legit Game Balance thread.

The red star can also represent China - and there's a big portion of the player base that's Chinese or of Chinese descent.
Some are just proud of their nationality and wouldn't have a political view.

Sorry America, the soviet paintjobs just look better.

the mig camo on the ravens looks totally sweet though.

I think its simply because drab green with white stars isn't a very interesting colour scheme, considering all other options (although personally I like the simplicity of it - sometimes less is more).
I imagine you'd also find a lot of military model collectors have a disproportionate number of German WWII vehicles and soldiers, simply because they have a plethora of interesting camo schemes and uniforms.

It just looks good, doesn't it?
Now, the Sherman version, well, let's just say it went well with the tank itself. Both sucked.

Based on my occasional drops in USTZ most Americans who want to show some sort of nationalistic pride in their paintjobs go with massive red white and blue paintjobs. There's no option for stars-and-stripes at the moment of course, so they end up looking like they've painted the mech as a french flag, but there we go.
In short - people don't immediately identify the sherman paintjob with anything in particular, the way they do the red star. And lets face it, the soviets had much better taste in terms of uniform/paintjob design.
