I've Elited at least one each of Medium, Heavy and Assault chassis. But the most fun - and the most challenge - I've ever experienced in MWO, has come in the last two days, when I've been piloting a Jenner.

There is no middle ground with Jenners. The highs are very high. The lows are very low. I've had games where my team has lost, I finished with a score of 10, no kills, only a couple of assists, and my team p'ed off at the ''waste of tonnage'' I represent.

But then I also have games where, despite the tonnage and firepower stacked against me, I am key to the team's success.

Take, for example, the game I played on Frozen City yesterday...

I spawned with the usual array of predominantly PPC/Gauss assaults and heavies. As usual, a couple of LRM boating Assaults on each team took up position at the edge of the map, and starting spamming volleys of LRMs at whatever targets their team mates briefly locked. Both teams were in the usual ''waiting for someone to make a move'' stance on either side of the central ridge.

I decided to liven things up. I headed through the tunnel and got behind enemy lines. Instead of the Light Mech's usual ''briefly cap their base'' stunt, I simply ran behind the enemy Assaults, pinging several of them with one ML on the way past. Four of them turned to come hunt me. I quickly serpentined my way out of there, sustaining mild damage, while appearing to head toward their base. But instead, when out of sight, I turned and went back to my own team, announcing ''honey, I'm home!'' when I got there.

Meantime, the frontline of my team had seen what I'd done, and used the distraction to press forward. With four of their Assaults off hunting me, our front line easily took out their remaining Mechs on the front, and started work on those who had been hunting for me... now scattered and in disarray. I spent the rest of the match running through the melee, scoring what hits I could, and even managing to take out a poor Highlander in a game of 'Ring Around the Rosie' as he circled a building in vain trying to get me in his sights.

We won the match. My adrenalin was pumping, and I'd had a great time. I was the lowest scorer on my team - but while I wasn't rewarded on the scoreboard, I knew that my little Jenner had been the game changer.

Though I'll always score more kills and damage in my favourite Cataphract, I believe Light Mechs are the most fun, and require the highest skill, in MWO.

Yeah, I've occasionally been on the receiving end of ''waste of tonnage'' sarcastic comments in losing matches.

I understand the concern. My k/d in a Cataphract is 2.2, and in a Jenner it is certain to be much lower as my Alpha is only 20 and an enemy Assault can core me in one Alpha. So to some extent it's a valid criticism.

I don't know what to say about it, other than that I'm trying to be a well-rounded Mechwarrior.

At some point, I really hope PGI will place greater value and rewards on the roles that Lights and Mediums are - and should be - playing.

I've lost count how often I've pulled off a last minute win in a light that would be impossible in a heavy, I also lost count how often a single alpha legged me and ended my game early.

The most fun though is killing a heavy after its come to stomp you in the ground, more than one cats died to my spiders bite.

Some people tie their epeen to that damage number, others realise there's more than one way to have fun.

Welcome to the glorious world of light mechs, we`ve always got room for one more. :)

Seriously, when I want money, I take the Atlases out for a spin.

But when I want fun, nothing beats a spider, and knowing that the first person that successfully sneezes in your direction can core you just makes it that much more challenging.

This inspires me to get my jenners out of their long term storage. In all honesty, despite the "wasted tonnage" comments, I have noticed that a team with a couple of good light mech jocks tends to do much better than a team without. And at the end of the day, this is a game. We're here to have fun in stompy robots, not to win a war.

Fell in love with jenner a while ago. It is by far the most fun mech i have in my mech bays. With the D variant i can stand against all light mechs, I can finish off wounded mechs of any weight class, I can kill Assaults just by hitting their backs, even with full armor there, and there's my favorite... the ability to mysteriously CLOAK behind enemy assaults while they search for you XDDD

You know, I seem to find that when I'm off with my Jenners and Cicadas no matter what I do I die ignominiously, but when I'm on with them I can often top the damage and kill/assist lists even on teams where I'm pretty much the only lighter than heavy or assault.

Don't underestimate the power of the light side. Especially the Jenner - that thing's basically a fast gunboat with a payload that can compete with some heavy builds for damage output.

I TOLD YOU!

Once you go Jenner you don't go back.

I actually keep wondering if I should outright ditch the 3L for the Jenner. It's soooooo tempting.

Nicely done, Jenners can kick some serious butt.

Light mechs are an interesting beast, if you can avoid hits, you can dominate, but if you get hit solidly you're dead.
People in assaults always complain when we don't disintegrate immediately upon viewing their awesome presence, little realizing it's their aim that's the problem (in these days with HSR), and/or their weapon selection.

I have had pretty much the same exact experience with my Jenner. Sometimes I am the key to winning, other times I seem to die in two minutes.

I remember one match where the enemy was just kicking the snot out of my team so I decided to do a cap run on the enemy base. They ended up ignoring me till the base was about half captured then the survivors decided to come at me piecemeal. First came a Commando which turned out to be a really fun little head-to-head battle but in the end I took him out without taking too much damage. Then came a moderately damaged Cataphract which again I managed to finish off without taking too much damage. Finally the last enemy, an LRM catapult shows up and accidently allows me to get inside his range. Unfortunately his two medium lasers weren't enough to take me out and down he went, thus I snatched victory from total defeat hehe.

The way I feel is that I'm only as good as my team. If my team is good enough to match the other team, I can raise hell. Now I'm over here, now I'm over there, now my teammate just cored you from behind while you were busy looking at me. And if they decide to ignore me, 3MPLs (Spider) or 6MLs (Jenner) are usually enough to get their attention. Otherwise, I just flounder, trying to survive. It doesn't help that I only get up to 12FPS on a good day.

I have never liked Jenenrs. It is the squashed duck look or somthing. I do love lights though, and my Meds.

Nothing makes people angrier than a MG. Shooting a MG (or flamer) at someone will make them rage until their ears pop... Hoiw dare someone hit them with a MG!?!?!?!!? RAAAAGE!!!
