I'm pretty sure the other Spider wasn't trial, but he did have at least one flamer, so that's a handicap.
Pretty sure this only really proves how broken the Stalker is.

I'm hardly an elite player, but this challenge sounds fun.

One medium laser and a flamer...LOL

So is this to prove that you'll do as good as any other mech you pilot, or good for a trial spider?

Messed up my screenshot, but still -
122 damage and I survived! I'll take it.

I happened to drop on a team with someone else in the trial spider. We caught this Centurion with 2ml and a Gauss alone and we pretty much just griefed the ***** out of him. Someone else had to show up and kill him but we circled him for a good 5 minutes, flaming his face and slowly lazing his Gauss arm off.

1ML and 1 flamer. As a trial mech it's a great way to get people to hate MWO, no question.

Thought this was a good idea, should do it each rotation. Pick the worst trial mech and run a challenge in it ;)

Here's mine, got lucky and had a good team! Ty guys for carrying me. Also to be fair, my kill was a DC'd trial spider. I killed it with direct hits through the back to minimise damage done to not skew stats much. The rules were one game, or I'd play another lol. Still, my team was hammering through the enemy so fast it was all I could do to keep up, let alone do damage elsewhere.

Still getting that horrible hit reg too. Ping was 300+ and is normally around 230ish. So half my lasers weren't registering sigh. Can't wait for patch tomorrow to hopefully fix.

Only 29 damage and an assist, but I didn't die! Completely forgot I had jump-jets for the first few minutes.

No screenshot, but I did record the match with Bandicam:

Technically it's my SECOND match with the mech... I jumped my leg off in the first and then had a rare CTD a few seconds later.

ok - first match in a trail spider ever. First with a light actually, and that after about 4000 matches.

99 Damage, 3 assists, 1 Kill. Conquest on River City. We won because enemy team was destroyed. I survived.

I killed one jenner who must have been very afraid of me, since he didnt shoot back until his back was nearly cored. But it took me about 5 minutes, was chasing him the whole time all around the map. Some Benny Hill music would have been nice at that moment.

Man, that thing is soo fast, I had to run it at half speed most of the time because I'm not used to such fast mechs and often outrunned the jenner and had to turn around. (My fastest is a Treb with about 96kph).

Will post pic if needed, too lazy now to upload it anywhere.

I have to say it was pretty fun actually.

Last one standing on my team and was able to successfully poke at a lot of people, and even did moderate damage to an exposed side torso on a HGN pressing us at the end. All things considered, better than I expected. I think this is one of the best trial mech configurations I've seen. You go fast, can easily evade fire with piloting, and will not overheat after shooting 3 times in a row. Really only lacking in toys and weapons.

EDIT: This was fun, but what did this have to do with game balance? Showing how bad trials are? A lot of them are very bad, but few cannot be overcome with caution. I'm looking at you RVN-2X and JMs.

The max damage I did in the 2 matches I tried afterwards was about 80. ;) Now I feel like I have to play it more just to see if I can crack 100! :D

I've been running nothing but heavies and assaults for months. This reminded me how much fun lights are. Blew the dust off my old Jenner 7-D and having more fun than I have in a while. Surprised it's still effective with HSR but it's holding up just fine. Backstabbing little ******* that it is.

This challenge was a brilliant idea. It's too easy to get caught up in chasing the meta or finding ways to cheat it - sometimes you just need a break.

The thought occurs to me... maybe I'll start a new thread. Anyone interested in a "Good Pilot: Bad Mech" thread?
Look for it soon in this forum... Maybe something like this:

1) I'll accept submissions (smurfy links) for mechs that meet specific guidelines
2) I'll pick 5 or so
3) We vote on them
4) We all build the winner and post our best-of-ten match game-end screenshot.

Well, I loaded up the spider and got Canyon. My group decided to "go left for once" and we all stayed together headed for their base.

We found and killed two enemies, but their team capped first.

Spent most of the game capping, was at full health when it ended with the exception of an arm that got hit by a quad ppc shot.

It shows incompetence in balancing from stock builds first.

I'm glad you said "one" game. Ouch. Running and gunning like a mad man. Hitting everything. Trying to make a 4LLAS stalker overheat.

Wow I really suck at lights.
I'm not even sure how I took a gauss hit and lived. The best part was the AC/40 jager that missed me at least 6 or 7 times.
