Convince Me To Buy A "pretty Baby"

I feel most drawn to the "Pretty Baby", but it's hardpoints look stupidly bad, I read somewhere it has a unique defect that makes it deccelerate 25% slower and on top of that, it's an Awesome, so it's a huge, nearly unmissable target.
I was thinking a loadout something like this for it: PRETTY BABY
My general plan in that loadout would be to use my speed to get behind a slower assault/heavy/what-have-you, fire the things that go bang, then run away.
Does anyone have a better loadout? Is there any reason to get this awesome looking Awesome?

Just buy a 9M. It's literally better in every way except 15 ratings.

and if the BAP is a must have

Save your money. Don't encourage PGI to make more ****** overpriced mechs by buying the ones they've made already.

I tend to take
1 ERPPC
2 MED PULSE
1 ASRM6
1 ALRM15
works pretty well as long as I remember to hug a teammate
Incidentally I own
- YLW
- X5
- Pretty Baby
- Heavy Metal
- Ilya
and I would list them in the above order for preference. I hope thats helpful.

I love Awesome's and I do mean I love them.
But Pretty Baby is a train wreck.
Their are occasionally matches where I run it and start thinking...."OK, yeah this is kind of nice maybe it's not such a bad thing."
Then next match it kicks me in the teeth with how ineffective it really is.
Unless they add another Energy or missile hardpoint OR your a collector just avoid the Pretty Baby. You'll regret it.

If I think it has a weakness it's that its not really good any any one range, so you end up trying to cover all of them, which is bad.
Oh and the hardpoint layout is awful.

What' ineffective about it is you can't possibly get enough weapons to defend yourself.
What at best 2 ERPPC's and a medium pulse laser?
In any sort of straight up fight you get eaten alive and that tuna boat CT gets burned down by anyone even remotely competent people with gauss, ppc's or dual 20's.
The SRM's are powder puffs in damage.
The PB is decent at supporting others but in a straight up fight you lose.

Then SRMs got "fixed".

-The hardpoints are laid out in a way that can be described only as cruel. There are six hardpoints, one of which is in the head, meaning that is has less usable hardpoints than almost anything in the game. To top it off, three of the five hardpoints are in the arms, and the arms are so low and wide on an awesome that you have to be completely out of cover to fire; I sometimes take falling damage in the arms on my awesomes if the terrain below is not perfectly levels.
-There is already an Awesome (the 9M) which does everything the PB does (except look hideously ugly) but better, with the one exception of the 15 extra engine rating the PB gets. That 400XL is not included with the mech, so if you're going to be spending seven million extra cbills on the engine you might as well just get the 9M as long as you are saving up.
-It is hideously ugly
-Two of the four missile hardpoints are four-tube only, so running anything more than 1xLRM15 is out of the question; SRMs would be more appealing, except that currently SRMs do slightly more damage than TAG, and any SRMs you fire will have to come in waves because of the four tube launchers in the arm.
-It is afflicted by all the problems that currently plague the other awesomes and make them the worst assault chassis in the game. These problems include but are not limited to: horrible hitboxes, low weapon mounts, a small number of weapon mounts, a huge overall mech model, a generous cockpit hitbox for other players to aim at, and no ballistic options.
But since this thread is asking us to convince you to buy it, here is what I love about the PB!
-The catchphrase they used to sell the mech, "No one puts baby in a corner!" is really neat.

You can try to make someting out of it, but it will be very expensive (XL380-400,...). And still in the current high alpha metagame, you can not compete with other mechs in your class, even most heavys can get really nasty.
As an addition they nerved the stopping distance, so it feels very sluggish and you can't stop/reverse really fast, you are better of turning and running away forward. Something you have to get used to, and you will get used to it, you will be running away a lot in this mech, thankfully it is fast.
You do have very suboptimal hardpoints (placement and numbers). You will never have a high alpha (47 sounds good, but only 25 of that can be pinpoint), so you are a brawler with the punch of a Hunchback, but that is good since you are a lot worse of as Sniper. LRM boat is out of the question too (2 missile slots in the arm with only 4 tubes).
Basically you are near useless, i get the same dmg numbers in my YLW, which is a lot cheaper.
Overall, DON'T BUY IT, wait for a meta change/Mechbuff (second one not likely to happen).

The Pretty Baby only has 2 speeds; flat out, or dead.

stock 5D yea, but I put a er large, and a med, can get behind most mechs while an assault is firing at its ct, im plinking away at the rear, enemy mech is dead before they decide the best thing to do is run away

Sorry but I can't, Awesomes have the problem to be fairly too big, Cataphracts are better, Stalkers can do the same thing way better and even the Victor will overshadow them.
If you really want an Hero mech you should go with an Ilya, Misery or Heavy Metal. If you're really attracted by the PB and you can't resist, then try an AWS 9M first.. which is better anyway and doesn't cost you a whole a lot of MCs.

Yeah, hence my caveat on stock only. With any sane loadout, 5D does fine support work.

Its a fun fast mech that does take some getting used to. I also suck with assaults mech since I hate not having the speed and maneuverability but the 9M is an exception to the rule. I'd recommend trying the 9M out first and if you really like it and the PB is still tempting you than you can consider buying it.
edit: Also, if you take the time to grind for an XL380 engine for your 9M you can just transfer that to the PB if you ever decide to get it. That thing will put you at 85kph with speed tweak. Going to the XL400 only gets you an extra 4 or 5 kph so it might not be worth spending the c-bills.
