Is Group Firing An Ac-20 With An Srm6 A Good Idea Under 270 Meters?

I usually fire SRMs with the keyboard independently of other weapons. Is the 2/3 of a second or less of delay small enough that a stock SRM6 still would hit most of the area the AC-20 round did? I am asking about the SRM6 because its cooldown syncs with that of the AC-20. What is the critical lateral speed of target to ensure that if the AC hits some or all of the SRM6 will?

Only if they're not moving very much, or you are very close.

SRMS got a slight nerf few months back and unless you are hugging your enemy, not all missiles will hit the same area.
I used to open up the armor with 3x srm6s, then fire the ac20 hoping to remove any last bits of armor as well as crit the inwards.
also, if you press the "/ " key (default bind) you can open up your missile bays (they are closed by default at start of match, hence the slight delay before they exit the bay/fire), which removes any firing delay, but it also gives you slightly less protection (10% less i think) from incoming attacks to the missile bay area.

I´d say try it out.
If you feel comfortable with it, use it.

Don't group them together. You never want your missiles firing with your ballistics since they don't have the same travel speed/ranges. Just fire them both at the same time if you're point blank and feel confident you can hit. Otherwise fire them rapidly but sequentially to give them both the best chance of hitting.
AC/20s fire well into falloff, as you can still outdamage a Gauss at up to 405m. If you pair it with SRMs you lose that ability to trade down damage.

You could try grouping them and setting to chain fire. But don't hold down the fire button. Tap once for the AC, then tap tap for the SRM's.
Or bind the SRM's to the spacebar if you aren't using jump jets.

All good advice ... it all comes down to the level of complexity you're willing to deal with.
On my AS7-D, I have the AC/20 and 2xASRM-6s in one group, and the AC/20 alone in another ... this lets me fire the AC/20 beyond 270m when I can line up the shot, or when the stars align properly (usually another assault facing directly towards or away from me), I can twist in, fire, and twist out as quickly as possible.
So should you group them?
Yes and no ... yes for a quick snap shot against very close (i.e.: facehugging) and/or stationary / unsuspecting targets ... no so that you can maximize the utility of the AC/20 beyond 270m without wasting missiles.

Speed of an AC/20 is 900, SRM6 is 300. Say a target is running at 60kph, and you want to hit the target at 270m.... then the displacement would be....
i dunno. I can't do math. someone care to graph it and do all that numbery stuff?

At 100 meters, the SRMs arrive 0.222 seconds after the AC/20 shell ... the AC/20 shell and the SRMs would hit a target moving at 60 kph perpendicular to your line of fire about 3.70 meters apart ... so if you hit with the AC/20, you'll probably get some damage from the SRMs ... but probably not in the same hit box.
At 200 meters ... 0.444 seconds ... 7.41 meters apart ... probably not going to hit with both.
At 270 meters ... 0.600 seconds ... 10.0 meters apart ... ditto.
I have gotten some lucky snap shots with my grouped AC/20 and SRMs at the 150-200m range, but these were usually timed to be during a target's turn (when the movement left to right was minimal) or just plain lucky.
Before I added a separate group for my AC/20, I was wasting a lot of missiles (and heat).
It has been many years since I actually broke out a pencil and applied junior high school geometry / algebra, so I might be wrong.

Put an Artemis on the SRM.
