MG, 1 D/S, infinite fire...thats 60 d/m ...take that X4 on a proper lightmech, it´s okay for a critseaker

Pulselasers were fine before, i don´t know why they had to mess around with them (well actually, the small lasers needed a buff, but idon´tthink that 0.4 damage make them a must-have :)

flamers didn´t need a damage buff, they are flamethrowers, not guns... they were already good for harrassing ppc-boats and blinding people :D

The proper buff for flamers would be to make them shoot raimbows and / or streamers. Streamers should auto fire into the air if you win the match.

Small pulse might be worth it now, if you can't handle the heat of mediums.
Still hurts to lose the range and raw damage, but at least they now run fairly cool.

LPL is just plain nerfed, straight up inferior to the PPC currently.

MG/Flamers who knows, I'm staying away from them for the moment still.

Small pulse laser's viability will depend on the boating count & penalty. If you can boat like 8 of them with no penalty, then they might see some more play.

MGs are going to be run on everything that ran them before, this will make some spider pilots happy, but probably won't achieve much else.

Flamer buff will do nothing, but by nature of doing nothing, won't hurt.

Considering how MGs still have their cone of fire, they are still not that good for support weapon. It needs a minimum of 1.2 DPS.

For a ton, I'd rather have a Medium Laser over a SPL.

I completely concur, except that this suggests that the humble LPL was comparable to the PPC in the first place.

Here's hoping the balance pass they are setting up for does good things, because as it stands the only benefit I've been able to concoct from this particular pass is that the choice between equipping an LPL or a single MLAS is now a whole lot easier to make.

I wouldn't consider the large pulse laser objectively inferior to the PPC. They have essentially equivalent damage and heat generation (though the PPC is slightly better (and by "slightly" I mean it's negligible)). The only real difference between them is the range. The PPC reaches further, but the large pulse laser works at extreme close range. I'd still consider the large pulse laser to be better for brawling, but I don't think it's worth the weight compared to the large laser anymore.

Small pulse lasers are now theoretically viable. They have much shorter range than the medium laser, but better heat efficiency. Gonna have to try some out on my Jenner now.

Machine guns are pretty okay now. 4 machine guns sharing 2 tons of ammo do less damage than 4 medium lasers (4 dps rather than 5 dps) and have shorter range, but generate no heat and tear right through internals. Still, how viable crit seeking even is as a tactic is still up for debate.

Flamers, I have no idea. I honestly don't even know the best way to use them, so I can't say I'd know if they're viable. I'm gonna go off on a limb here and say that they're better than before, but I don't know if that's good enough, or if they're even buffing it in the right way.

That's the thing though, the PPC is still just better, even in a brawl. The damage and heat are the same, but the PPC has double the range, which is not a small thing at all, given that an ER LLAS pays a 50% heat penalty to have 50% greater range, this implies PPC should generate roughly double the heat of an LPL. Oh, and there is the fact that a PPC does all its damage to one component, which makes it incredibly useful, and the LPL requires you to hold your aim on target if you don't want to spread the damage all over.

p.s. If the numbers being reported are right, MGs are currently doing 1/8th of their intended damage; so no, they are still very very bad.
