*snip* closed beta graphics were pretty sweet up until september or so when they started with the film grain and so on. Oh well it'll be sweet again sooner or later!

Also I never got more than 20 FPS (5-10 average; nowadays 30 or so average) before september so I (and many others with older machines) just couldn't play the game. I imagine there's some cryengine restrictions to make these settings switchable (since they prolly would be if it wasn't so) so I prefer them off.

Edit: To the OP I agree with others that you shouldn't have much problems with FPS. Make sure you don't have too much stuff running in the backroung since I've noticed that available memory is a big factor in performance with MWO. Even if it says it's not using it all (I always close basically everything else running when I start playing MWO).

Edit2: I have only 4 GB of ram. I've been seriously thinking about upgrading that but DDR2 is so frigging expensive nowadays I think I'll wait 'till I upgrade my whole rig. If anyone is willing to give me a deal for 4*2GB DDR2 Let me know -_-

i use a sager 8150 with a 2630qm and a 485m, which is basically one generation older than the op's laptop.
i play the game in v high 1080p with vsync, aa and motion blur off and i get 38fps ave (not optimal for fps but it sure looks good).

im thinking your lappy is throttling. if you can, open it and give it a good burst of comepressed air. also elevating the back of you laptop with a bottlecap and manually switching fan to high will help.
