And a lot of us play other games and have certain quality expectations.
I don't think it's setting the bar too high to request that the devs be honest with their intentions, timely with their adjustments (it's still beta), and not dismissive toward the community.

There was a time when everyone wasn't an asshammer, and the community was like a big mech-loving party. But then things started getting unbalanced in areas that were forewarned, the devs became terse and snarky, and things started going downhill.

Especially those people who say they have stopped playing a while ago but keep posting on the forums complaining about everything anyway. It's a wonder that PGI is able to accomplish anything when groups of people are constantly whining all the time.

I started playing about 2 months ago and have about 1500 games played and I don't think there is any build out there that is blatantly op/unfair/unkillable. (95% of my games are hunchie or dragon so I don't even run supposed "cheese builds") In my opinion the game is not as completely broken/unplayable/everyone is quitting tomorrow as people on this forum make it seem.
Every other thread is people complaining about nerf this or buff this, or people proposing overly complicated mechanic "fixes" that are extremely unlikely to be implemented. I think PGI has been doing a good job balancing the game, for example the recent MG/flamer/LRM changes have put all of those weapons in a very good place. As others have been stating its the complainers that cause developers to over-react by excessively crying over stuff that does not need to be fixed. Gameplay balance patches twice a month is a more than generous update schedule. Proposing unrealistic solutions to simple problems doesn't help anyone nor do exaggerated "game sucks, everyone is quitting" type of complaints.
For example: things that I think would improve the state of balance (in my opinion), is:
Increase PPC heat 30%, implement the overheat damage and slight damage buff to SRMs
But even if they didn't do that the current meta is playable and nothing is game-breaking and the sky is not falling.
Basically, what I am saying is:
A simple fix is much better than overhauling the whole system or adding whole new systems with hosts of unforeseen consequences, and please try to give helpful constructive criticism instead of throwing tantrums saying you will quit unless X happens.
I really wish people would keep this in mind, before QQing about whatever their pet complaint is.
Anyone else here feel the same?
Dude this Forum is full of Gen X angst. Alot of players of MWO are old. Like 35-60. We're all old battletech fans and grew up on Nirvana and Pearl Jam. We're angstful. That's the long and short of it.
That said I still enjoy the hell out of MWO.

This behavior has been all that worked in the past. It started with Open-Beta nonsense (not sure you remember, but they wanted to go Open Beta extremely early.) The testers had to throw a tantrum, and they gave in and pushed it back. It turned out the community was right, as the "Open Beta" patch introduced a set of crushing bugs that would have made for a very poor showing.
So fast forward through LRMageddon, Coolantgate, idiotic ECM implementation; we've learned that the only way to get the logical changes made is to act illogicaly and throw a big visible fit.
And nobody wants miracles. The best suggestions are simple and easily implemented. (MGs/LBX/Flamers could be fixed with some number changes. If it takes more than 15 minutes to change the damage values on any of these somebody is doing something very wrong.)

Yeah, sure. It's pretty fun. I still play a few nights a week, but not as much as I used to.
That doesn't change the fact that this game could be so much better than it is.
OP: "This soup is fine, I don't know what you guys are talking about. The noodles and carrots do a fine job of filling my stomach and keeping me alive. I eat it every night with no complaints."
People OP is griping about: "Well we could have chicken, onions, and green beans in the soup too. And the noodles are alright but whole grain noodles taste better and are healthier for you than the ones now. We've tried other soups with whole grain noodles and the difference is significant. Also we could spice it up with salt and pepper, and if they gave us more bowls we could share it with our buddies. Not to mention that when we were given the option to pay for the soup we were told it would have a lot of these things in it well before now, and when we mention that fact they just respond that nobody forced us to pay for it."
Now I'm hungry. =/

That is where the rage comes from.
PGI set the expectations then crapped on them.

^^ this^^ and PGI asked for it when they tried to NERF the forums. I've been here since very early in closed BETA and so many threads and topics where the DEVS stated what they were going to do and how they were going to do it have just simply disapeared. Add to that how they continue to do things and go places that they swore they wouldn't go, their moving at a glacial pace on the simple things and the rage grows. Now lets Cap it off with the 3rd person view disaster. They put their as.s in a sling on that one all on their own and now they have to decide which part of the playerbase they are going to insult and drive off. Yes the nerds are raging but not without reason. When you have been here for 12 months post again and tell us if you still feel the same
