For sale, low low price of 10 mil for 8 medium mechs: Well used and mostly suitable for collecting dust.

3 Trebuchet varients
3 Hunchback varients (incl founders)
1 Cicada
1 Centurian

All are basic cannon fodder suitable for use as pinatas by assorted assaults and heavy mechs. Also great for use as course pylons for light mechs running around at high speeds.

Standard upgrades of DHS, Endo, and balanced (as possible) weapons loadouts. Blood in the cockpits are thrown in at no extra cost.

Each has only had only 1 pilot owner who is currently moving up to the Heavy and Assault meta. PUG only so no unit crest to have to remove or paint over.

Offers of popcorn and Yoohoo will be entertained. Will trade all for the right offer of a Battlemaster or Thug with low hours.

contact him on Craigs List under Kaarde@TongueinCheeck.com

Edit: guys, this was done largely in jest, with a bit of observation about the meta tossed in. I'm not hating on a whole class of mechs here.

And for the gentleman who e-mailed me the scathing message about l2play and such. All I have to say is, the IRS and NSA people reading it are likely going to blush. For both our sakes I deleted your missive and will do my best to forget you were ever spawned.

Happy hunting folks.

I love my mediums. Mainly my Wang and my Cent A, though I do break out the 4P and HBK G every now and then.

It's a bad match if I don't do close to 400 damage or more.

Just chop them all in half and you will have sixteen light mechs, much more useful!

Tongueincheek is Tongue in Cheek.

I do well in mediums, in truth they are my favorite mechs. I'm just finding what many others have found, that heavies have a bit more staying power and firepower in the current high alpha meta. Thus I find that I'm driving them more.

Heck, the Quickdraw seems to be a heavier Treb and I have them with near identical builds.

I'm hoping that there may be a change making mediums more desirable again, till then I'll pull them out on occasion when I feel the yen.

Happy Hunting folks

i still like my mediums though i've been working the rest of my jagers up to master (cause i hate leaving unfinished trees around). i do have a lone stalker 3f when i need to remind myself how much i hate moving slowly. though about trying the quickdraw since they look/act like a big medium more than a heavy mech. kinda like how the cicada is a fat jenner.

but i'm comfortable enough on my mediums- except those times when i lose track of the teammates i've gone over to help and wonder why 4 enemy mechs are all shooting at me...oh my guys ran... though some do die with me in the interests of fairness. or the ones where i say "don;t worry mr. atlas i'll help you against that jagerbomber and stalker...um, mr. atlas, why is your back arching like that on the ground? If CW/Dropship mode has some form of weight limit mediums will make a glorious return to the limelight.

For now, I do enjoy them but for the most part heavys are close to equally nimble (speed/turn/twist) but with better ordnance and better armor.

Will never give up on my 4P though. It's my baby. At least until the almighty Urbanmech arrives!

yeah, i'll have to agree that mediums are getting pounded... and are therefore not making many appearances.
looking at the weight distribution right now, i'm counting ~6 heavy/assault mechs per team and ~2 light/mediums.
so if you're piloting a medium, you have an uphill battle when it comes to tonnage (due to the current matchmaker).
if the enemy team has Brawler Heavy Mechs, Mediums get pounded pretty fast because they have approximately
the same speed, but significantly less armor and weapons load. examples are AC40 Jager and Gausskitty. i even
have an Ilya which can eat any light/medium for lunch, and it's not their fault, Heavies are just better

CTF-IM
Offense: AC20 (3 tons ammo), 3 ML, 2 MG (1 ton), 15 DHS
Defense: st. 300 engine (76.4 km/h with tweak), 416 armor, AMS (1 ton)
Upgrades: DHS, endo

mediums and lights cannot fight a heavy brawlers 1v1 when they move at 75 km/h (assuming decent aiming), they are too strong. numerous discussions about mech battle value (BV) have been made by others

This is my Centurion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My Centurion is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My Centurion, without me, is useless. Without my Centurion, I am useless. I must fire my Centurion true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will...

I really love playing with my Centurions. Sure I have more time in Assaults, but that's only because I played more medium mechs before the stats.

I enjoy piloting Medium Mechs, but because I'm not a terrible scrub, I know the current state of the meta is such that Medium Mechs are outclassed. They very much suffer the "Jack of all trades, master of none" problem.

So I pilot mediums when I'm bored and want to handicap myself. I pilot Lights, heavies, and Assaults when I want to win.

It's probably the 16 hour work shift speaking, but I half hope with 12 mans incoming a spot will develop for meds to slip into comfortably. Maybe as midfield defense backing up the first line and half backing base defense.

In the mean time I'm going to learn the assault class role and work on mastering Centurians. Lights are last on my list to master. I'm not twitch enough to handle them correctly.

One of the biggest problems with the Centurion and Hunchback is that running XL engines in them is suicide, and a lot of the heavies can run really big XL engines, carrying a lot of firepower and achieving almost similar speeds, or fast enough to not really make a difference when you're trying to disengage with your medium.

medium mechs can be very beastly, even with the current meta. It is all up to the pilot to make it happen tho.

I routinely hit 500+ damage with my ylw, easily 1v1 assault class brawlers and even ac40 builds.

This is more of a l2p issue than anything else, you have not put in the time necessary to truly learn the mechs. That being the case, of course heavier mechs with more weapons and armor work better for you.

Not at all. This is an issue of "whatever you can do in a medium 'Mech, an equally skilled pilot can usually do better in a heavy one".

Noone is saying that you can't do well in a medium 'Mech, or that you can't have fun running it, but when it comes to competitive gameplay, they pretty much don't have any redeeming quality that would make them a better choice than any other weight category.

I would say Demon is correct. There will always be the case where someone can hop into a mech, even if its generally considered gimped, and rip faces off with it. There is no doubt several players here that could take a half armored spider with a mg and flamer and run rampant on the field.

Generally speaking though, mediums lost their role in the game due to the increased amount of available heavy mechs.

I'm no superstar at the game, but being here since CB and piloting meds near exclusively I remember when meds had their time in the sun. It's just evolution that something bigger and badder knocked them off for the moment.

I will keep running them and adapting, but I think it will take a paradigm shift to get them back to where they were.

XL engine in Centurion just requires a certain mind set.

1. Hit and run

That's about it. My CN9-D is using a XL 95% of the time and I'm not killed that often.
