As opposed to just buying them over and over?

Once you purchase a color it should be unlocked permanently across all mech chassis and variants. Camo patterns are a bit different, but have options both for 1 application or permanently unlocking. If you unlock a camo pattern permanently, you can freely switch between it and other available patterns for all variants of that 1 chassis. Camo patterns must be unlocked for different chassis separately.

You only buy a colour once. A small number of colours are available for
but most are only for
. At the bottom of the colour list is a section for purchased colours you already own, which you may freely apply to any mech at any time for no additional cost.
There are two types of pattern unlocks.

There are two types of pattern unlocks.
- The cheap one is a single-use which will last indefinitely until you change the pattern (you may still change the colours as often as you like). Once you change the pattern the original single-use is gone. Single-use pattern are only for that one mech, not other variants of it's type.
- The expensive pattern cost is a permanent unlock, with infinite uses and changes. This applies to all mechs of that chassis type (for example, if you buy a permanent pattern unlock for a Catapult, all your other Catapults get it too)
