Very simple concept.

I said this as a joke late at night during the tourny a few nights ago, but the more I've thought about it the past few days the more I think it sounds freaking epic. Of course I would, though... check it -

Everyone who placed on the tournament leaderboards should get to lead the clan invasion. For 48 hours, groups of 5 up against 12 or something crazy. Everyone else in IS stuff, with 12 guys, the Clan guys dropping in the releasing clan mechs and weapons and stuff.

It would actually make the Clan invasion feel like... well, the Clan invasion.

Think about it.

Some of the best pilots in the game? With some of the best new equipment available? In some of the best new mechs available?

Can you imagine the tears? I know I can. They would taste delicious, like the nectar of the gods.

Anyways I think for everyone whos ever done well in any tournament up until the actual invasion, they should be allowed to opt in to a 2 day period of basically 'early' entry into the Clan stuff, just for the invasion part or whatever constrictions are there, and just run roughshod over every IS noob in inferior mechs with puny weapons.

Hey guys. Next time PGI releases a hotly anticipated thing, what say we let people who just happen to resemble me play with them for a while before the hoi polloi get their filthy hands all over them. I think this would be fun for everyone involved. What do you say?

with all the high dammage long range alphas everyone is sporting, regardless of skill and superior tech, the clan players would lose being outnumbered like that.

Better idea, PGI should just remove everyone except Soys accounts and replace them with AI.

Clan invasion should involve a separate pilot account that is invite-only and flagged as Clan. No call-signs or dumb names, just lore-appropriate "real" names.

Hold pre-invasion Trials to establish ranks, offer some Trials of Bloodright to get a few blood names on the field (if you see a Clanner with 2 names you know he's pro), and enforce strict Zelbringen with permanent banning from the Clans after three violations - no violations using the "but they did it first" excuse that so many Clanners rely on.

Then, drop a star of Clanners into normal matches as a surprise third side, leaving the other two as hostile. Give the Clanners a win for capping both bases, getting double the Conquest points of the standard requirement, or having no surviving IS enemies.

No C-bills for playing. Rather, Clanners earn XP as normal, but also reputation points. Reputation can be used to buy in to Trials of Position. Base all access to resources (mechs, weapons, etc.) on rank. Force the Clanners to earn their stuff by ritual combat.

so let me get this straight.
you want to put the best players in the best mechs and then drop against the other players?
a bit like how you get premades dropping against pugs and newbies? yeah because tha doesnt already make people quit this game. i personally know at least 2 people who quit playing for this very reason.

add to the fact that the people who missed out on the tournament because of work or kids or w/e as is often the case and your going to end up with a hell of a lot of people who are going to say ok enough is enough and just leave.

why is it that people think they should get special treatment because they have nothing to do with their lives?
i have not even bothered to do any tournaments because i dont have the time. the only one i did was the 25 match one for the free hologram, and only because i wasnt working that particular weekend.

so why should paying customers be pushed aside for people who pay nothing, just because they like me have to do 12 hour workdays?

I'd be for it for the sole reason that those on the leaderboards have shown they have no lives to play the game enough to win the various tournies, so it would actually look like an invasion!
