Hello everyone.

Whenever I buy something I like to try it out stock before I go remaking it. By doing this I can get a feel for its ideal roles. For example the Atlas K's stock build screams long range, and thus when I rebuilt it I kept it long range, and I stay distant from battles. I average 2 to 6 kills per match with the Atlas K and rarely have any trouble except in the infamous PPC sniper matches.

That said I went and ran the Firebrand stock when I got it a day ago. I must say the default build gets a pass. More ideal armor levels can be achieved by swapping the MPLs for MLs and allocating that newly found weight into armor. However these videos are with absolutely no changes, no unlocks, etc.

Round 1.

Round 2.

Round 3.

With the exception of arm energy weapons, the Firebrand's default build can be recreated on the JM6-S if you want to give it a try. Just put the PPCs in the side torsos with the MPLs and run 2 AC/2s.

Everything said, for those who are considering it I can vouch for the Firebrand to be a worthwhile investment.

The best Firebrand build is AC/40.

Better than that is the Firebrand with AC/40 + 6 small lasers for 58 damage alpha strikes with an additional 18 damage followed by 58 damage for a total of 134 damage within slightly more than 4 seconds (2 back to back firings of the AC/20). But that isn't the point of the topic.

Is the Firebrand worth it?

Sure. You can practically build all of the Rifleman variants with it. At least, that's what I like about it anyways.

One of the more interesting things you can do with the FB is to "buffer" the Gauss Rifle with a PPC. It is the only mech to my knowledge that can do it.

Edit: The BJ-1 and 1-DC can do it as well, assuming you can find the magical tonnage to make it happen.

However, it's probably not that practical.

The reason I want a Firebrand eventually (gonna wait for a sale or until I get too impatient with with waiting to get my other Jagers past Basic unlocks) is the Rifleman connection. It's the only mech of roughly the right size and profile with the right hard points.

If your gonna strap on an AC40 you may aswell just buy a D, it'll cost less and do the same job really.

It seems a waste not to use the energy slots in the arms to me at least.

I fumbled around in the Firebrand for a while before I found the Rifleman build. The Rifleman build is the way to go, it's a really good and really fun build to play.

The Rifleman build is always awesome, because the Rifleman was awesome.

I have been having a lot of success with just swapping the basic MPL with ML, AC/2s and a few heatsinks for AC/5's. It sometimes runs a bit hot, but you can toss the 2 PPCs and AC/5's together for a decent 30 pt shot, then pad downtime with ML and extra AC/5 shots.

rifleman is good, ac40 as always an alternative.

what i used to master it was 2xLL and 4ML with a STD300 i think and nearly max armor and 20 DHS. No balistics but a good damage dealer.

seems a solid chassis to me, even if 99% of the pilots one herre have the originality of a block of Styrofoam and kit them out as your generic AC40 Jager.

Yeah, AC/40 is pretty effective (but I actually like 2x Gauss better 90% of the time); I just feel like why do that on the FB when it gets those fun lasers on the arms? If I'm goin AC/40 it might as well be an S or DD.

This weekend should be a weekend full of Jagers, probably most running AC40s. I'm gonna see how I do with a "Rifleman" build this weekend. 2 LLAS, 2 MLAS, 2 AC/5 w/ STD 265; endo, FF, and I think 12 DHS.

Probably not the best combo out there, but I'll probably get my 300-400 damage a round. Seems lately people are liking to assume I have XL's on my Jagers, and this weekend will be even worse so the extra durability will hopefully help me out.

Rifleman build

It's quite fun and great for conquest. My favourite for Alpine peaks, however I always do more damage with dual gauss.

Here are all the Rifleman builds:

JM6-FB "Rifleman-3N"
JM6-FB "Rifleman-3C" (Added Case, DHS, 1 more ton of AC/10 ammo, can be built with any Jager)
JM6-FB "Faux-Rifleman-4D" (Instead of 15 SHS, added 16 DHS)
JM6-FB "Faux-Rifleman-5D" (18 DHS instead of 17, and an additional +2.5 Tons of armor)
JM6-FB "Rifleman-5M" (Removed Case, Added 2 more ton of UAC/5 Ammo, and an additional +2 Tons of armor)
JM6-FB "Faux Rifleman-6X" (Removed Case, Added 2 Additional Small Lasers, This build would actually be nice if LB-X weren't so terrible, something like this in MW:LL would tear Mechs to shreds)
JM6-FB "Faux-Rifleman-8X" (20 DHS instead of 16, + 1.5 tons of additional armor)

("faux" meaning the weapon either isn't where it should be according to a record sheet, or the weapon is not the actual version used, i.e. small laser instead of ER Small Laser)

All of these builds are pretty nice except for the 6X with the bad LB 10-X, but other than that, decent.

As a stock purchase, no.

Add in the variety of what you can do with the hardpoints and engine rating have made it one of my most tinkered with chassis, and arguably the most value out of any mc i've used to date

Edit: oh and i dare you to run a 340xl and a boatload of energy weps and tell me it's not fun :D It's a hunchback with armor slightly thicker than c-bills!!

I run something similar to that: 2xLL, 2xMG/1ton Ammo, 4xMPL, XL340. You do need to know how to manage heat and spread damage but I find it an enjoyable build to run.

I've been enjoying my Firebrand so far. I'm running an almost kinda-sorta Rifleman build. Been thinking about dropping a HS to squeeze in another ton of ammo.

My build: 2x UAC 5's, 2x LL's, XL-255, Endo, 14 Double HS's

How do you get 6SL on there when the AC20's take all the arm room?
