I like the fact that the current team is leaving the Wizkids stuff behind and can finally do their own thing.

I'm personally hoping for a shared techbase between the IS and Clans.

Yeah, Herb, one of the line developers was saying they really want to trim down the factions and make the game more accessible to new players. Of course you have people freaking out about them trimming down the factions, but I see it as a good thing, and a needed one at that. Alpha Strike rules should be out sometime soon, and from what I gather it seems to be aimed at more units on the field without the slow down, but not on as grand a scale as battleforce is.

I too really hope the tech base becomes standardized, and the more I see from the 3145 TROs that have been coming out, the more I think it is moving towards that direction.

So Lore doesn't go beyond the 32nd Century right?

Not yet.

We're still in the 3145 period.

Honestly.. It sounds a bit scary to me. I hope they will not change too much our loved universe.

Besides.. I have read the novels until 3061, i am still far from any knowdledge of the Dark Age. .Not quite the time to get a new era ;)

I think they want to get the novels to 3125 first. I believe the novels are at around 3080.

3145 has the beginnings of some pretty drastic faction changes as it is, it would be easy to narrow it down to only a few IS factions by 3250. wolf and falcons already have steiner half eaten, and davion is on its way out the door too. remove stone, and merge the mariks and it would be a much easier place to get new players started in.

Why? Only because there are a few less factions? I do not buy it.

Both, the game will receive new equipment and there'll be new sourcebooks and stories.

there needs to be less factions. trying to get new players interested in battletech TT is a huge undertaking of explaining factions, lore, how the game works, and the basic technologies of the mechs involved. its not easy, esp if your talking about younger folks. if portions of the game can be streamlined, its a good thing

I was 8 when I painted my lead Archer and booted up MW2 with a floppy disc and read the Jade Phoenix trilogy. Sounds like you got the wrong youngsters. The depth of the universe is the only reason I care about this IP.

I just picked up the Alpha Strike rules today. In a nutshell, they're rules that allow for faster large scale scenarios. They can be used with the standard hex maps, as well as more modern scale 3D maps, as well as coordinate systems. I haven't really had much of a chance to read the whole thing yet, but it does look a little bit more streamlined. I think the rules are meant to complement the total warfare rules, not replace them outright.

I think the IS needs a new golden age to assimilate everything that has occurred.
if BT is following a similar repeat to European history. The star league era would be Rome.
the sucesor states is everything up to the darkages. thus the Renascence must follow.
what the game needs is a rework of base game mechanics to update it to a 2015 game, add in 35 years of
development and reboot the game in a way that allows for more advanced tech. also the IS could find itself fighting the OS or outer sphere. what was once pirates or barbarian hoards if you would are not fully formed stated independent to the notion of a reunification war.

The clans would still be what they are, but in a more unified way. All the the blood names are there but a new form emerges and units fight for the right to call themselves Kerensky's widow makers or other significant unit name.

over all mech design rules and weapons stats could stand a little re-polishing/ balancing.

I don't think I can take another new era after the Dark Age happened.
