I've been buying off-the-shelf computers for a while now, last time I built my own PC from scratch the intel Core (Not Core 2) series had been recently announced. I have never been a gamer, and MW:O is the only game I play.

Recently my main PC took a dive and so I am looking to replace it, as cheaply as possible, so I am thinking AMD FM2 APU... thing. The A10's are a bit too rich for my blood, are any of the A8 or A6 chips any good for MW:O, on just lower settings?

I have picked the following, based on my other needs. RAM is no biggie, that's easy so not included. Can I go cheaper on the CPU or is it not quite good enough?

I assume you're just dropping that in place of your old parts; do you have DDR3 in the old machine to use with this board?

I will be buying RAM for whatever board I wind up getting.

RAM is not my worry, just get 8 or 16GB of whatever fits and is decently fast.

Given your budget, just stick to 4GB. MWO is capped at 2, and it's money that you need elsewhere.

I wouldn't dare venture below the A8-5600k. In fact, I'd bump it up to the Richland A8-6600k, for 16 quid more.

Unfortunately, if you can't spring for the extra 10 on getting a faster CPU, then high performance RAM is way too much of a premium. The cheapest 2 DIMM kits of DDR3-1866 are 50 on up, so forget what I said there

If you're that cheap, go for the APU. I recommend against it because,... well just because. I suppose if you don't game much (as stated) the APU is a great general home-use product.

I know the dual core baseline FM2 will NOT play this game... it gets 5FPS.. but its also a A4.... my friend has a A8 Toshiba laptop that plays MWO 15-25FPS.. with everything on low.. (no discrete graphics card).. but i haven't had the chance to get my hands on any APUs yet.. i'll be getting a A10 6800K soon (hopefully being Monday) that i'll run MWO with and post it to my youtube account my results..

Agreed. Faster RAM is enormously beneficial to APUs, but at the same time, that bundle is massively overbudget for the OP

If he can't even afford spending a few quid more to get the A10 over the A8, then spending that same amount more on faster RAM is also out. This guy's really having to scrape the bottom for budgets, unfortunately. It's too bad, too, because a few bucks more could get him something like a 6800k and the faster RAM, but apparently it's just out of the question.

You are better off increasing the budget or you'll end up buy another computer sooner, rather than later.

unless the parts in your old computer were pretty mid-high range your budget won't allow you to really play MWO.. like I said previouslly i'll get the A10 6800K Monday and see how it performs with MWO.. even that is a steal at $150 (USD via newegg) MSI has a FM2 board for $45 via newegg.. then you just need drive, ram, psu, and case... some parts from your old build are probably still viable (DDR3 ram if its newer, HDD could probably still be used if its Sata (even if its IDE you could get a adapter to goto sata with it which I don't really recommend but hey.. you could).. if the build was off the shelf the PSU probably isn't too great.. but could possibly be used.. and the case is viable i'd be guessing.. unless the reason you want a new PC is because it got dropped off the side of a truck or something.. my buddies build got dropped moving it out of the car and it came up fine.. so... idk.. i'll see how far I can push the A10 then you can see based on its abilities if the A8 5600K could do it without the help of a dedicated graphics card..

maybe in the mean time you could test the APU if it can be X-Fire with the HD7770 card

And i stress that is the least, 4Gb RAM is doable but stupid, for example for the 4GB of Gskill its only a saving of £10....might as well pay the extra £10...it makes no sense not too.

4GB is £30 cheaper, or about half the price. 8's good for future proofing, but since it doesn't actually confer an advantage in MWO, the OP doesn't have the budget to waste money on "future proofing". Far easier to just buy 4GB more two or three years down the road when it matters.

Of course, I also agree that the OP would do well to just expand his budget a little, too.

Not sure how much OC i'll do, and I don't have a 7770 (have 7970, not super rich to have multi cards lol) last I heard it is supposed to crossfire with 7750 but it hasn't worked for anyone yet.. but i'm getting a A85X board, 1866 Radeon Ram (8GB 2X4). I jumped on the AMD test drive train that they're doing to promote the Richland APUs.. excited to see how it performs for games..

they have not released anything on what brand the motherboard is to my knowledge.. nobody knows yet.. from twitters #amdtestdrive it seems everyone is getting their builds Monday (including me) so we shall see..

most of the time, 2133 MHz is for OC-ing if the RAM stick is capable of achiving that freq.

i'm impressed with it but i'm not to sure how i'd feel about recommending anything under that one though...
