I just have a niggling feeling that people are not going to be as wowed by the Orion as they hope.

Let's revisit that in 3-4 months.

As far as I'm aware twist rate is determined by mech speed, twist amount, pilot tree skills, and quirks.
Which is to say that it's not based on mech engine, but mech speed, which is engine/tonnage*16.2.

I suppose it's easy enough to confirm, get a hunch and an atlas, set them both to 48kph via engines, and time their traverse in the testing grounds where there are no pilot skills.

Weight is also a factor. Think of it this way. Take a 300 HP engine and put it into a Ford Mustang and a GoKart. Obviously the GoKart will accellerate and turn faster. The Atlas and the QD have the same engine size, 300, but the QD is only 60% the weight of the Altas therefore the 300 engine can turn and accellerate it faster. Same thing with JJs. Put 5 JJ on Heavy Metal at 90 tons and then 5 JJs on a Jenner at 35 tons. Heavy Metal takes forever to get off the ground while the Jenner will soar.

I can second that, also am i crazy for wanting a Hammerhands instead of the orion? I like the orion, but the hammerhands is more my kind of dakka... i mean mech.

That's pretty much what I said, or at least what I was trying to say.
