1. Change the paticipation format so that only the players who opted in drops against each other.
2. Change the formula for score so it doesn't favor KDR over Win and Teamplay.
Currently because the formulas are KDR favor, nobody really cares about the actual game win. What the players who opt in for tournament wants is to get the kills (much kills and assist possible) and survive more than win because that nets higher score.
Because of that, majority of players bring alpha heavy mechs and that brings all the PPC boat to the yard. If not dual ac20s, 3 PCC/1 Gauss so forth. Another problem is because players who opted in want to survive much as possible and do much damage, kills/assists as possible. They just hang back and snipe all day looking for attrition.
Which is a problem when vast majority of everyone does it. Its normal for games during tournaments to end in following ways...
- Base is being capped. Player on your team don't care, they try to get kills because Kill > Win
- People boat, hang out by a ridge waiting for someone to pop up.
- People don't want to take any damage so they just hang back.
In reality, why should they? Tournament favors Kill over Win. Focus on killing and not teamplay or win. Fix this because I know a number of players who just don't bother playing during tournament because many people opt in and all they do is to play to get much kill as possible. Not actually win.

You don't understand the challenge.
You can't have a good round unless you WIN THE GAME. Without winning the game, you miss out on the points from winning and the kills/assists that could have been.
This is a non-issue. Winning is paramount. An absolute must.

The actual difference between you and your opponent in any match, if/when stats are the same (kill, assists, being alive) is actually winning the match.

Winning a match is = staying alive so your KDR argument is wrong.
That being said wining is 10 extra points that's HUGE that means over the 10 games that you are scored on that's a total of 100 points! some brackets there is less than 100 points between 1st and 10th place.
I'm currently in 1st place for dragons and I'm 8 points ahead of second place.

Do the math. Staying alive and getting kills is #1 thing everyone goes after. Obviously best way to win tournie is to stay alive, get kills, AND win. I'm sure top ranks won most of the match because score is higher.
However, winning actually doesn't give you much benefit over losing because of the formula. Plug it a number if you can't figure out why that is with the way formula is setup.
Formula is this: Kills × 20 + Kill Assist × 15 + (Damage Done – Team Damage) ÷ 30 + Wins × 20 + Loss × 10 + Survive × 20 + Dead × 10
If I played ten match, killed 30 mech and 20 assist, did say 5000 damage and team did 5000 (0 to simplify argument), I survived in all of the match, but lost all match. It's going to be same as winning all the match but surviving Because of that, everyone plays to get most damage and kills, survive. Winning or Losing is secondary. Primary objective is to do damage kill, get assist, survive, and THEN try to win.
Lost all but survived
((30x20) + (20x15) + (5000-5000) / 30) + (0x20) + (10x10) + (10x20) + (0x10) = 30 + 0 + 100 + 200 + 0 = 330
Won all but did not survive. Same KDR
((30x20) + (20x15) + (5000-5000) / 30) + (10x20) + (0x10) + (0x20) + (10x10) = 30 + 0 + 200 + 0 + 100 = 330
Win or loss doesn't provide enough incentive. So why would a guy particiating in tournie go try to stop a cap early on or try to be the first one to crest so rest of team can charge? They wouldn't. They'd wait for someone else to. Problem is, when many people are doing that. Game ends up into waiting match and not much team play.
Current formula gives more favor to killing, assisting, getting damage and actual win. Here's another scenario. Let's say you lost the match but killed 30, 20 assist blahblah same as above. Comapred to another scenario where you won all your match but killed less and assisted less because you died while stopping cap, or led the charge so rest of your brawler heavy team can close gap on PPC boat heavy enemy team. Because of that, you died in all match and killed/assiste less blah blah but still won.
Not dying, getting more kill, assist is better than actually winning.
Lost all but survived and killed 30, 20 assist
((30x20) + (20x15) + (5000-5000) / 30) + (0x20) + (10x10) + (10x20) + (0x10) = 30 + 0 + 100 + 200 + 0 = 330
Won all but did not survive. killed 20, 10 assist because you died early but somehow still did 5000 damage and team did 5000 (which you know is not likely)
((20x20) + (10x15) + (4000-5000) / 30) + (10x20) + (0x10) + (0x20) + (10x10) = 18.3 + 200 + 0 + 0 +100 = 318.3

Team damage was the damage you did to your own team, not the damage your team did to the opponent.

Yup, and if you are good enough, you actually can get a negative score on the leaderboard by doing at least (10+10)*30 = 600 team damage.
Last tourney you only needed 300, and I was able to get negative scores in every category but lights (which I actually play) to see how many people were participating in each weight class.
