Without them telling us, and they won't or we won't believe them if they do, it is a shell game.
Is it lack of players?
Is it ELO?
Is it 4-mans?
We don't know, and they aren't telling us, beyond corporate group-think PR responses like "We are confident in our Matchmaker's ability to handle split queues" or the ike.
Note, I am not even saying this so much as a "bad thing" as much as just flat truth.

That is not true!
You start with a ELO score of 1300 and can loose or win max. 50 points per match.
So if you s.u.c.k in every single game and loose 50 points, it takes 26 matches to land on ground zero!

That isn't all entirely correct. You lose points only if you are in a match you were expected to win and don't win. If you drop in a match you are expected to lose but instead you win, you gain points. If you (your team) are expected to lose and lose, very little or no points are lost. It is the same if with expected to win and your team wins. That is how I have interpreted what is posted there. Read the last post.
So, with that said, it will take a lot more than 26 games to drop someone to zero.

If team A has a higher tonnage or better weapons than team B then team B should be awarded more cash and xp than they would normally get if it was a balanced match. Some sort of points value would help.

I've been getting really unbalanced matches since this last patch. Worse than usual.
For a long time I was dropping with other experienced players, now I keep getting matched up with new players against experienced 4-mans. Something's definitely not working.

For those of you calling the old match maker better... you obviously never dropped into a match in the old system with 4 trial assaults on your team vs a premade of 4 DDCs when ECM was the meta of the week.
The new match maker isn't great, but its better than that was. You just selected 4 of the same weight class and more often than not you got half to all trial mechs on the enemy team in the equivalent weight slots. Let alone the hell that was the 8 man premade vs a 6 trial and 2 buddies playing team. I still have nightmares of those arguments of 'Its a team game, find 7 other friends or stop complaining about the matchmaker'.
It could use improvement, or a properly implemented lobby system, but at least the majority of my fights are enjoyable now, win or loss. There are still matches that are painful to even watch, but its rare that I see a 8 v 0 match anymore, a lot seam to fall into the 8 vs 5 range which to me was a fun match.

I always thought it was lack of players why the matchmaker doesn't work?
Remember when the new matchmaker was originally introduced? It took several minutes (!!!) to find a match, often it didn't find one at all. It was so bad it was reworked just a couple of hours later.
Since then - faster matchfinding. But still ****** matches. Funny to see that sync-drops and premades vs. Pugs still exist. Community Warfare will be all about what house has the least honorable teams that exploit the system the most.

Do you like quiz shows...?
Well, the current trial mechs are the Com-2D, BJ-1X, CPLT-C4 and the AS7-RS (C)...
And now find the trial mechs:

The question is.... how bad or broken is the matchmaker really?

Ouch. I've been keeping an eye on 'matchmaker flub' pictures...yours may be the worst I've seen! 5 mechs under 200, and all your assaults combined not achieving even 400! the enemy raven 3L had 11 damage, and still scored higher than your bottom three mechs!

Here's one from the European morning. I don't get these scores during any other time of the day. I think the match maker put this together just to get something going.
The red team had 5 trial mechs. The blue team had only 2 but we were a man down. Even so the trial mechs on the red bravo lance out damaged some of the assaults on the blue team. In fact, both trial Atlases were kicking ***. So overall it was a surprisingly balanced match.
edit: I didn't get too many kills for the damage I did because I was kiting people towards Siege.
