Poll: The /dance emote. (58 member(s) have cast votes)

Should MechWarrior Online have a /dance emote?

  1. Yes. I'm already saving for a 75 ton Boogaloo Shrimp with beat box hardpoints. (14 votes [24.14%])

    Percentage of vote: 24.14%

  2. Yes. If my girlfriend can teach my cat Gangham Style, there's no reason an Awesome can't learn it too. (12 votes [20.69%])

    Percentage of vote: 20.69%

  3. No. Line dancing would be too overpowered in the hands of premade teams. (17 votes [29.31%])

    Percentage of vote: 29.31%

  4. No. I'm so convinced that Footloose is part of MechWarrior canon, I only turn my torso six degrees, and each of them is Kevin Bacon. (15 votes [25.86%])

Because maybe you can't spell MMO without "/dance"...

I would rather that if it be included, it be a general taunt emote that is bought with MC or as an option for Exp (if people are crazy enough -but if you get up to gold, why wouldn't a mech pilot be able to show off some skills?) and have it come with a limitation that it can only be done once per game (or a massive cooldown), should be interruptable, and come with a recovery time whether interrupted or followed through to completion. Dancing can be included as a taunt, of course.

well, on the list of priorities, i would hope this is right down there with toenail polish for mech footpads... but if the OTHER team wants to do whit while we shoot them... no problem. btw, there is a vid out there (i forget where right now) with "dancing" mechs... they just had to work at it.

There already is a dance emote ingame.

Stand still for long enough and your mech will do the break dance.

Poll option 2 is too hilariously stupid to say no to.

That said, I'd hate to actually see this in-game.

Was ready to say "no," but y'know what? If 3rd person view gets shoved down our throats, bring on the /dance emotes. It'd just be part of the natural progression anyway. Bring on the line of Awesomes doing the Macarena, and get it over with.

Without ingame VOIP it would be too hard for pubs to line dance in the middle of the action. This would only further help premades against pub players until VOIP gets added in or the last phase of MM. People will get upset when they get killed and taunted by a group of mechs dancing in front of there dead body. We already have enough problems to deal with on these forums.. this added dance feature would just increase the rage levels on the forums dramatically. Not to mention this would be a big nerf for gauss cats as well. People will be able to pilot Awesome mechs out in the open to attract gauss cats to waste there ammo attempting to headshot the mech but will miss horribly since the Awesome will be dancing to kickin beats plus will have a lag shield to also protect it. This will also lead to overpowered dances to be played more than others which then will cause the devs to put even more time to balance them out with each other. Everyone would just be picking out the most dramatic moving dances in order to dodge shots more efficiently if they were to be shot at during the dance. We don't even have all the weapons balanced yet so we shouldn't have to worry about balancing dance moves right now. Oh and I forgot to mention if you're about to be cored you can also abuse this system by just dancing in front of the guys face while you wait for your weapons to recharge. Needless to say, the game will turn into MechDance Revolution. I think after we get other stuff done with the game first like netcode, weapon balance, maps, we can then worry about the /dance feature being added to the game. We really need the netcode fixed and VOIP added though for this to work for the reasons stated above. Till then, we got other issues to settle.

That's pretty cool. I'd like to see an extended version with more mechs!

You can sort of dance with your mouse, yeah. It kinda reminds me of the dancing in Invader Zim.

No one is trolling you. Comedians aren't trolling, they're making points in a humorous fashion. Perhaps this poll actually contains two suggestions, and the second one is that maybe some of the people around here could afford to lighten up. There can be fifteen minutes a day where we don't fight about LRMs! (In theory, if not in practice.)

I think this would be great, especially if they create a Solaris mode. Taunting during a 1v1 duel for extra cbills ftw. Say your opponent shut down or fell over(assuming they put that back in for some reason) and instead of finishing them off you dance(assuming your confident you cant beat them without seizing that particular opportunity), how humiliating would that be?
