Don't worry, you only need to vote once. Although assorted bumps are definitely welcomed. Got word from the actress, heard a sample she recorded to find out of the mic quality, tone, personality, etc. was sufficient. I'm very pleased with it. Hope the viewers will be too.

In the meantime, ZeProme, I didn't have any luck with my Centurion + Trebuchet runs as the person I paired up with had such a high bracket we were the only mediums against 8 assaults all with gauss+PPC. It wasn't very bright pairing up with someone that had a high kdr/win ratio for that with the current meta. Learned my lesson!

If you still have your Centurion I might have you drop with me in some upcoming matches so that Lordred can get video of the lore Trebuchet+Centurion combo. Or if you have a Treb, I'll pilot the Centurion (as with Lordred being my camera I've started to become rather adept at protecting other mechs). Snag some basic colors for and I'll match the paintjob.

That said: Bumping this up because Lordred got more awesome shots; swing by and give your opinions? He's looking for input!

Some quickies to inspire you to click!
Spoiler

Please vote here by commenting if you haven't yet: What is your favorite currently available mech that you want to see the lore of it?

So, we will be video taped?

Sounds awesome.

My schedule isn't fixed ATM, still in University for summer courses -_-'

I have CN9-A, CN9-AL and CN9-YLW. Maybe we should do a sub-section dedicated to the famous YLW and it's pilot (whose name I forgot)

Justin Xiang Allard was his name, born on a Liao world and a spy for the Davions, he eventually became an arena fighter. The Yen Lo Wang was originally a CN9-A that he bought at a discounted rate (due it being so battled at the time). Allard eventually became a legendary arena fighter who kills his opponents (or at least two of them) even as they use larger battlemechs.

(Edit: Apparently my ability to spell deteriorates greatly at later hours of the night.)

My vote would be Atlas, Stalker, Jager, Raven, Commando.

At least as far as popularity in matches dropped into with my (low) elo bracket.

If I was going to be selfish, I'd just vote "Jenner"! Because that's my first mech and I can reminisce about my old MW and MW2 days.

But realistically, I see very few Jenners on the battle field. I think it would be more useful to showcase the mechs that are played the most currently.

Well I did say 5. Since voting isn't as frequent as I hoped I suppose I'll take it.

But so you know Jenners are more common than you might think and certainly the most dangerous. Their legs are hard to hit so when they die it's almost always by center torso destruction. Ravens have dwindled quite a bit from their throne since the easiest way to take them out is to leg them. Commandos nearly non-existent. Spiders are the most common of lights oddly enough considering how not that long ago people kept saying they were awful and useless.

Maybe it's because Spiders have trouble registering AC/20 hits. At a certain range one or more AC/20s will slip perfectly between the side and center torsos, and the shots are so big the network can't decide which to hit.

Btw, didn't the Jenner in MW2 not have much of a torso twist?

Forgive me, I couldn't help myself.

...Mechs...

Even if PGI doesn't fix the current meta, at least I know that Battlemaster will be able to out-alpha any other direct-fire mech. 7 PPCs + Gauss Rifle. It's possible! I'll have an XL 250 engine so minimum heatsinks required, 7 PPCs, Gauss Rifle, and 4 tons left over to choose between ammo and armor.

Alright! Since voting's fairly slow, tonight's the last night to get your votes in. By this time tomorrow I'm gonna close up the voting, tally it up, and let you know.

You can vote here by commenting it. Note you can vote for up to 5 mechs, and the most popular of those named will follow immediately after the Hunchback when the Hunchback's vid is up, and will be my first priority in terms of writing the script and getting good exterior camera angles on it.

The runner up in chassis will then come after it, leading us up to the third place, fourth, and finally the fifth before I ask for another vote. By then many new mechs will also come out so there'll be plenty to choose from.

Might have made it in the nick of time! :)

I vote the Jager (like you didn't see that one!) as it wasn't designed to engage enemy mechs. It was designed as an anti-aircraft platform.

The second pilot of the Yen Lo Wang was also famous. Justin's son, Kai Allard-Liao, turned down a Diashi (Dire Wolf) during his training on Outreach because he trusted the Yen Lo Wang.

I'm thinking the A or AL, and whichever it is a little bit of LRMs equipped could go a fairly long way, too.

---------------

That said, I just snagged the votes so far but I'm leaving this open until tonight when I can really sit down. Votes were pretty high for Atlas and Centurion, with runners up being -- actually I think I'll ***** the votes if I say that.

Time says 11:36 AM here (Eastern). Around 8 or 9 I'll do a final count.

Btw for those who are interested; I dug up some of my own screenshots this time. Rather than screens of me by Lordred, these are screens of other people that I have taken. While not as attractive as Lordred's screens mine are completely unmodified and at my youtube video resolution. It includes Hunchback, Spider and Commando lovin'.

I'd like to vote for the Cent if it's still possible.

The other four are pretty obvious: Dragon, Hunchback, Blackjack and Trebuchet.

...What can I say, I'm a medium junkie at heart.

hows you manage a 250 engine??? when i built it on a mech building website i ended up with an xl 225 engine, one external heat sinks, and 16 armor, how did you get more stuff then me???? stuff you just named would not leave 4 tons for anything, did you forget about internal structure weight or something???

Actually what happened was I used a stalker to 'mock' the build. Later on I retried to build it using an actual Battlemaster and forgot to encompass the fact that the Battlemaster has lower arms and hands, making the build not possible. Instead I made one with 6 PPCs and a Gauss.

Pay to lose, baby, pay to lose. Lousy as Paul's idea seems, it'd basically make us self-destruct the moment we fired that build.

Our guys have made a few random builds for fun. This one was pretty neat.

6 ML, PPC, UAC/5, SRM-6

I actually wish the Locust had 6 or 8 ballistic slots. I'd love to sport 8 MGs. That'd be 8 damage per second assuming I can keep the fire concentrated and on target. Although since MGs are firing at weird and flexible rates it'd be more along the lines of 6 to 9 damage per second.

It is. Actually go ahead and vote for 4 mechs on top of that. Voting has been a lot slower than I had hoped.

At 0 armor, I had to remove the gauss ammo to fit in the 7th PPC. That defeats the purpose of the gauss rifle.

Shrinking the engine down I managed this. Now it's heat is worse, and it'll still explode on the first shot.

Oh, if you've already voted I wouldn't complain if you either edited your post (to add in more votes for other chassis) or did new ones (but do mention they're new votes). Vote for up to 5 chassis total.

y you confused me saying it defeats the purpose of the guass so i though you meant it had the rifle but no ammo

not ENTIRELY sure why to choose certain mechs to vote on so i just said ones i though could use a proper introduction that are often used for things i dont feel like they where meant for

I'll chime in for a few:

1) Atlas: lots of people own one, but very few know how to pilot one accordingly
2) Jenner: How do you utilize the Jenner w/ and w/out JJ's?
3) Cicada: Given that your opponents drop the same weight class, how do you counter the fact that a cicada has a high chance of dropping against an equivalent opponent with a heavier weapons loadout? Best practices to balance those 5-10 ton differences?
4) Quickdraw: I see a lot of poor builds, but this is typical of a new mech launch.
5) Dragon: Just because.

We're still voting?
Catapult CPLT-K2
Of all the mechs I've driven, in stock form with base tech, this was my favorite.  I had already seen my CPLT-C1 cored out repeatedly, so I knew to stay near cover for when the return fire came.

I came up with the analogy that "You have to protect your glass jaw, in order to use your iron fist."  The PPCs were quite a satisfying weapon, especially in a match where I got to support my teams Atlas as he brawled with an opposing ECM Atlas.  I kept zapping the enemy's ECM, and when we won I had a damage score in the 300s (which was amazing at the time...my gunnery is still improving...)

When you're at the right distance, you have good aim, and you're supporting rather than winding up at the front line, this mech flat out rocks.  I was spectating from a K2 one day, at Tourmaline Desert, and learned from a damn good pilot.  He was sniping from a spire, and getting hits well past the PPCs optimum range.  He was sneaky, and his aim was dead on, just like the mech calls for.  I could swear he ended the game doing nearly 500 points of damage, with dead stock weapons.  He was never close enough to use anything but his PPCs, and that's just how it's supposed to be.

As everybody knows, the high-mounted PPCs reflect the designers' intent that you use it to fire from cover.

It doesn't hurt that it's a sexy beast.

(I haven't warmed up to trying it with ballistics, but my current build of 2xER-PPC and 2xLL runs too hot. I don't want to give up my PPCs!!!)

I don't mind the Centurion and Blackjack...seems like it have a zillion votes already.

My favorite medium so far is the HBK-4SP.
