Chicks sound better. Especially mature women that have a mean streak about them. Besides, every youtube channel right now has some sort of dude or another -- some sound decent, some sound crap. I think my own would kill it.

Not only that, but there's a reason "B!tchin' Betty" in the F-16 has a female voice. The designers and the USAF did some kind of study, and concluded that pilots were less likely to ignore a woman's voice. This was particularly important if the pilot had passed out from GLOC, and the voice was telling him "Warning! Pull up!"

...I didn't have any luck with my Centurion + Trebuchet runs as the person I paired up with had such a high bracket we were the only mediums against 8 assaults all with gauss+PPC. It wasn't very bright pairing up with someone that had a high kdr/win ratio for that with the current meta. Learned my lesson!

Maybe I can help.
I have a CN9-A, and some suck-a$$ stats. If one's Elo rating varies by weight class, then my worst Elo rating is with mediums. No contest. Send me a message if you want to try slumming in a lower Elo bracket. ;)

1) The Jenner - infamously tainted by it's involvement in the Kentares Massacre.
2) and 3) The Centurion and the Trebuchet - best buddies forever.
4) The Catapult - the 'Mech that ejects you sideways and vents it's jumpjets inside itself.
5) The Stalker - “It’s not flashy. It’s not the cutting edge. It just keeps coming.” - Triad Technologies, 2594

You'll need to share that story with me, I haven't seen it.

From Sarna:

Quote

Designed in 2784, the fact that the Jenner was the sole property of the Draconis Combine was a source of pride, however this honor would later be tainted by the 'Mech's prominent role in the Kentares Massacre.

Again from Sarna:

Quote

When Minoru [Kurita]'s son Jinjiro learned of the assassination [in 2796], he very calmly ordered his forces to "kill them all". For five months, the Kurita forces systematically murdered everyone they could find on the planet. Jinjiro himself oversaw several of the mass murders and at one point forbade the use of modern weapons, instead requiring his troops to use their katana (swords) to behead the victims.

In February of 2797, when Jinjiro left the planet behind, over 90 percent of the civilian population had been murdered. In total, the Kuritan forces massacred over 52 million people.

The crew of Jinjiro's Daimyo HQ vehicle were so horrified at the massacre that when Jinjiro left the command vehicle to begin viewing the executions in person, they deliberately passed recordings of the events on to a local ComStar representative. That ComStar representative transmitted (against ComStar's directives) information about the massacre. Before long, the entire Inner Sphere knew of Jinjiro's actions on Kentares IV...

From Technical Readout 3039:

Quote

Chu-i Hugo Green: A descendant from the man who led the death squads during the Kentares Massacre, Green inherited the black-and-red Jenner that was used to kill many of the civilians there. Green would successfully pilot it until the Ronin Wars, where as part of Marcus Kurita’s personal guard on Predlitz, he committed seppuku after allowing a Loki assassin to slip past and murder his commander. The Jenner was destroyed beyond any repair or salvage afterward to erase the many stains of dishonor the machine carried.

Long story short, much of the Draconis March of the Federated Suns probably has boogeymen stories they scare their kids with of a black and red Jenner murdering innocent people.

Okay, voting's essentially over and I have some art assignments to do and thus won't count right this second (though with Jazz and JWP around I get the feeling someone might count for me). But I'll announce the winners soon assuming someone else doesn't do it for me. (I'll be rechecking it anyway.)

But I thought I'd throw a comment here. The President of PGI mentions an idea I had (though he doesn't name me specifically.) I'm not so vain to think I was the only one to suggest it, but the numbers and such mentioned really seem to imply it. <_< That or someone working on game balance is thinking on the same wave-length. Check this out. Posts #36 (specifically the response to the quote where I mention hearing it) and #39 (where I quote the original idea associated with PPCs). 35 minutes into NGNG Podcast #79, Russ mentions the PPC splash I had suggested, and the specific percentage (25%) of the total damage pool that should go into splash from missiles, and they're going to be using it for PPCs. (Gives them more concentrated damage than my original idea, but 7.5 concentrated and 2.5 splashed still is better than the full 10).

Also, art!

Are the votes weighted at all?

You asked for 5. So... is the first in the list counted as 5 points and last 1 point or just one point for each mentioned?

Well those who only did one vote only get one vote. I'm just going by the total number of votes.

Targeting. (Reference.)
Senpai. Bah. Liao's gonna think I'm a Kuritan spy.

Ahem!

BJ, Spider, Commando, and Highlander totally got no love. Saddening since I've begun to more wholeheartedly field BJs. With the new AC/2 sounds they are mad fun to play.

Since they didn't get love, here's some Blackjack. First match of the new patch (begins trying to recreate a wickedly cool animation bug and when that fails rushes off to a moment that was so good I just jammed the record button).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHndeuQlKQ4

But back on topic! Cicada had 2 votes. One from Garth. I wish he posted himself but he only appeared in and disappeared. His presence would've brought a lot more people to vote.

It would seem the order is thusly decided:
Centurion will follow the Hunchbacks, then the Awesomes, and in an undetermined order the Atlas, Cataphract, and Catapult will be after them. By then I'll know how liked or unliked the series is and may hold up another vote for order.

In the meantime, I'm currently uploading a bunch of videos so if you'd like to take a break from the PPC meta then perhaps the fun in my vids using a plethora of non-PPC weaponry, please check out my recent ones.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Koniving

Oh and btw thank you Zeprome for counting them up for me.

I'm pretty sure that Liao is every communist state mashed together, with heavier chinese influence.
I know for sure Maskirovka is not Chinese.

Not all Kuritans are Japanese either. I was referring to the dominant culture. But yes.

I know this is a weird place to put it, but I've given my feedback on the latest game balancing. You can now find it as my second link in my signature.

If you're interested, check it out. It has both positive things to say (...I know, right? Pick your jaw off the floor) and constructive criticism. There's also an interesting read about knockdowns, and new information on the multi-shot ACs that people may like to know about.

Fun stories!

You wouldn't happen to know of any fun stories about the following mechs beyond what's mentioned on Sarna and the usual Wikis, would you?

Centurion, Awesome, Atlas, Cataphract, and Catapult.

I don't own the books and that Jenner tale is quite interesting.
