Of course, it might depend on other stats like rate of fire (I am assuming it would have the same as the Gauss, but that might be wrong).

Well, the BJ-1 uses standards, and lights ACs are unfortunately still a while away.
We can be happy*, if we see a Clan Mech at the end of the year, and that would be contempary tech (for the Clans).
*) but only really if the devs also balance it.

Normal AC2s ARE the standard BJ-1 armament.
Are you thinking of the BJ-4, which mounts 2 LAC5s?

So a 2771, mass produced run of the mill machine should use top of the line 3068 equipment?
Yeah, logic did punch you...

But I would love to see the Light PPC.
Right now there is a huge gap in energy weapon weights from 1 -> 5 tons. The light PPC weights 3 and could fill the niche for a small direct fire weapon.
As it stands really the PPC is the smallest at 7 tons as even the AC/2 weighs 6 + ammo.

You do have the medium pulse laser with 2 tons.
While it may be nice to have a 3 or 4 ton energy weapon, you already have one at 5 tons which doesn't need any ammunition. I think its way more important to get a decent ballistic weapon between the tonnage of the MG and AC2 since ballistics are really heavy and a lot light and medium mechs have underutilued ballistic slots.

There is still the Medium Pulse Laser, which makes the jump from 2 to 5.
The Light PPC could be interesting. It's also another non-hit-scan-but-single-damage-projectile weapon.
I know what I'd install on a Quickdraw or a Hunchback in the current meta.

I believe the Mag Shot could fit this bill, couldn't it? The Light Gauss RIfle is still 12 tons, but the Mag Shot is basically a Machine Gun Gauss Rifle. Same weight, a bit larger, and actually produce heat.

The in game timeline is pretty much out the window in my opinion. If it was still in place, we would have clan mechs to play with. Since we don't, why not throw us a new weapon or two to let us play with. It is beta after all......
I just want another 800+ direct fire weapon to use. Erppc's are getting boring.

That is all
Seriously though, I'd like to also see light PPCs, snub-nose PPCs, and a host of other weapons systems that got added later to add variety.

Exactly, 0.5 to 6 tons is one hell of a bigger gap. Try to equip anything other than a machine gun in a ballistic slot on a light, yeah its hard to make it work, a lot harder than anything energy. Hell its easier to equip an OP ERPPC on a light than it is to equip a pitiful AC2, how imbalanced is that.

Light ACs.. I really wish these weren't 3068. For both MWLL and TT. I'm running an era specific RP campaign that had just finished up the clan invasion (Great Refusal at Strana Mechty). And Its going to be nearly a decade before Light ACs can be used. Least RACs are about to make an appearance.

Oh, and their ERPPC's only weigh 6 tons, and do 15 damage for 15 heat.
Most folks really have no idea how totally crazytown things are gonna get once the clans show up. EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT YOU ARE USING CURRENTLY IS TOTAL TRASH.
