6 times per 1 Ton of ammo.

1 Ton of LRM ammo = 120 missiles. So, for an LRM-5, you get 24 loads.

At least in TT rules.

Ah, I see.

Care to translate the underlined parts here "they should nuked all those azami planets to yomi-no-kuni."

The azami are a group of people, originally from northern africa, that settled a couple of worlds now under DC control.
Most foreigners stay off-world because a local virus tends to kill most offworlders if they get infected - a virus to which the azami themselves are immune. As such, they DC has let them mostly remain themselves rather than forcing integration into the pseudo-japanese theme that pervades the DC. They also tend to be islames. (Sorry, no sarna article exists for it anymore)

As for yomi-no-kuni...

Ditto on the LBX weapons. It's annoying how they are designated. Tell me LBX50 and I know what you mean. Way to keep it simple.

Eh, try the economics system in BT...
Or the physics system, for that matter...
Apparantly, things work differently in Freedonia than it does for us. Especially when it comes to aeronautics and spaecships. B)

It would be counter productive for us die hard battletech fans to alianate the new blood. We want MWO to do well, not flounder with only but a few "diehard" fans available to play with/against.

I have a question for the BattleTech experts.

The LRM 20 fires twenty missiles at a time but how many times can it be fired before it runs out of missiles?

You can fire 6 LRM-20 volleys per ton of ammo you carry. An AS7-D Atlas prime variant carries 2 tons, so 12 volleys total.

If you intend to primarily stay at range, not for ~10-15 minute matches, which is how long the devs have stated the average matches are going for. B) The Atlas prime is meant to be a closer range fighter. The LRM is there to lay down fire while closing, and to threaten ranged fire mechs to back off.

Everyone loves the Catapult, but they don't realize the prime only carries enough ammo for 8 LRM-15x2 vollies.

Yeah but will you be able to kill some mechs with those 12 volleys?

12 LRM-10 volleys? You could drop a scout, if he was dumb enough to sit in your field of fire for that long. You can also use it to soften up slow enemy mechs as you close. Damage is damage, but it won't be any Atlas prime's primary source of damage. LRM damage is spread across multiple hit locations, so you're not going to be breaching armor, destroying criticals, blowing off limbs, etc. That's what your AC/20 is for.

I do not believe there will be any true advanced players upon release...at least not at the early Aug. 7th release. It is a new game, with a new engine, and mechanics. There will be a learning curve for everyone.

As for myself my brother made me play the table top when I was a kid, and played Mechwarrior 2 (the best mechwarrior imo). I do not have an in depth knowledge of the BT universe or it's timeline, however I'm fully confident I will be a compitent mech pilot. After all we all have access to the same mechs, equipment and weapons.

I have no idea what is going on in the Battle Tech / Mech Warrior world. Or are they the same thing? (you see what I mean) But I love big robots, customization, and shooting strategy build games. I played several old mech games growing up, but have ZERO idea where to even start reading to understand the large battletech/mechwarrior world. I am really interested, and I'm sure I'll learn with time. But I do hate being new and scoffed at by experts.

Where should I go to read more? I assume there are links from this website I just overlooked them.

That I can answer. Try to get your Hands on the Gray Death Trilogy. Some of the Best Battle Tech Books I know of (yeah I know the Blood of Kerensky and Warrior Trilogys :) )

Ive played the tabletop and all the games since DOS, read alot of the books, and there are things people post about that I dont know about. Its a VERY large universe that is constantly growing and changing. I hope people just entering the game dont feel too overwhelmed or are scared off by old vets. The BT community, imho, is one of the more welcoming to new comers and willing to help people out with backstory than some other genres Ive seen.

I can second that. But I also have to add that I personally think the mood in the community comes from the adulthood of the majority of players. We are not the 12-14 year old Counterstrike progamer whateveryouwannacallit. Hell I'm getting 31 this year I grew up with the TT and I play it from time to time, I even play MW2 Mercs right now, well not right now while typing this. You get the Idea. And as I already said, grab yourself so0me popcorn and a drink and hop on to sarna or get yourself some books if you want to get to know more about the backround.

I wouldn't be afraid of not knowing something about the BT Universe. I'd be afraid of getting sniped by people in super-marauders using jump jets and gauss cannons. :\

That's probably also true. I had that discussion in one of the other threads that was basically the same topic.

Right now, the lions share of the posters are old school players, be it from the TT world, or the CG-MW world. When this game actually goes live and gains traction, I'm guessing we'll turn into a minority. I think that's when the real discussions/arguments are going to break out between the people who want to keep it BT focused, and the people who feel massive changes will make for a better game.

Edit: Basically, most of the arguments right now still hold a certain level of "magical" rules that both sides wouldn't change. It wouldn't even occur to them to change them. The gamut of what's acceptable is pretty small. I suspect the rules on what's acceptable are going to get a lot wider when the game releases, assuming it does well.

I would like this post a lot better if it didn't raise so many good points.
