If they added an MC bonus to the people who buy it in the first week im sure the people sitting on the fence would fall to the right side ;)

And can't wait to see how the next 2 look.

Right? I keep clicking refresh, waiting for the Thunderbolt to drop. As for the Battlemaster, the thing could look like a pile of poop complete with buzzing flies, and I'd still want one.

Dude, I do not doubt that you get things done in real life, but don't stress out whether people waste their money or not. The cost is relative to the demand.

Digital goods don't conform to an elastic price model. They exist wholly separately from the concept of supply and demand, supply is only constrained by population maximums and demand is wholly determined by customer loyalty and the implication of scarcity and value, neither of which have material cost components to model value from.

I can't get them to lower prices to sane levels by buying (which would do so in supply/demand scenarios) nor realistically can I by not buying. In scenarios like this customer advocacy tends to be more effective than voting with your wallet.

SOLD! Instant $80.

All I REALLY wanted was the Locust and Shadowhawk, but I like the Thunderbolt and Battlemaster too so why not the $80? ;)

There aren't enough of you to keep the game viable, there are enough of us.

There are enough of you as long as you're around forever and willing to spend at high levels forever. Both of those are very unlikely. No game can survive by relying on extremely expensive repurchases by the exact same people forever. This game needs to grow, not concentrate on extracting 100% of possible value from a tiny subset of original backers.

This new package deal is a good way for a newish player who loves the game and wants a mix of the classes to really get into it. And with the current pricing model and for what you get it's better than the founders. Don't get me wrong its definitely a marketing decision to raise money for the game and to make profit, but this is what a business does. Could it of been done with a bit more flexibility so you could just get the Battlemaster on its own? Sure the could of, but with the fashion of alpha kits out there the marketing department probably thought it best to do it the way they did as the BM and TB would be the most popular. Smart thinking I say and good on them for trying. It's not like they have my credit card details and forcing me to buy anything .... though tempting ;)

It will grow and there will be new players.

If the current purchasing players number 50,000 and cutting the price of everything in half increases it to 75,000 people in the 80 package example they have lost 1,000,000 dollars. The number of purchasers would have to double just to break even, and will the fringe people buying at half the rate stick around? They are much better off with the pricing scheme they have.

Unless you believe the devs would outright lie at this point, on NGNG Russ said that all money raised is going directly to MWO.

Yeah like they never lied before...Third person what, Coolant flush what? Ask yourself that question again.

On a side note I think I may get this package because even though I hate 3pv mode and coolant flush lamers, I love mechwarrior and I dont want to wait another 5+yrs for someone to make another one.

Presuming 50 thousand people buy this is assuming that almost the games entire playing population buys this. That's not even close to realistic. Yes, cutting the price in half requires that twice as many people buy to break even. Games that are making a hell of a lot more money than this one (lol, TF2, Dota2, WoT, most MMOs) rarely surpass 40 dollars on anything. There are reasons for that.

Your assumption that a game that can't attract new players by the developers own admission, and has a very small community is better off for pricing structures that keep new players away while creating dramatic and visible tiers in the community is questionable.

The new package is a good deal for new players how? A brand new and finished AAA title from a proven studio won't go past 60 dollars. Paying 20 more for a small amount of temporarily unique content in a game missing most of its advertised features, and which is still plagued by awful bugs and performance issues is enticing to new players how?

The pricing on this package is only sensible compared to the already wildly overpriced digital content in this game. MWO is the most expensive per item non mobile f2p game that that i am aware of in the western hemisphere. Having a good deal compared solely to its own prices isn't really going to stand out to people who aren't yet used to seeing things with goldvision.

Oh my Blake, TDR design is awesome! I'm totally overwhelmed, for me it's definitely in top-3 of the best mech MWO mech designs. Can't wait till October.

But yes, wrong sides of the cockpit and missile rack is very strange. Why?
It reminds me how the Summoner got screwed up since MW3, where he got his hands on wrong sides. But MW4 finished him making both arms the same. So maybe we are lucky to still have TDR asymmetrical...
