Pretty much. I'm currently wracking my brain to figure out how to make it work.

XL means no AC/20. Gauss means a bomb in your side torso. Standard engine can't fit too much. Missile launchers are pretty tube limited.
Oh dear . . .

Maybe other Ballistics?:

double AC5 compared to AC20 (Gauss should follow the same idea)
more range
more DPS
needs same amount of ammo (4t are enought)
2t more weight
--> my CN9-D uses 2x AC5 and 2x ML with good stats

or triple AC2... maybe AC10 and ERPPC for pinpoint damage... maybe 3x MG + 3x Streaks + laserbased weapon? :(

So, I infer from the fact that the only medallions that are given are for the houses, that those of us that are mercs won't be able to show the merc unit we wish to identify ourselves with i.e. Wolf's Dragoons. PGI has been more or less mum on the issue of how mercs will be handled. Only that no one group can claim the name..which is fine..but if people can 'affiliate' themselves with a certain house why can't/when will we be able to do the same with merc units.

CW is supposedly coming but no new info is. I haven't really complained about the game, in the year+ that I've been involved..but my patience is starting to wear thin.

The Shadow Hawk should have .5 ton jump jets (I think?) which is good and with a ~360 it will be fast as hell. I am sure we can think of a few ways to work effectively with those hardpoints. Wish the Locust would have more top speed though. I hope it is at least very tiny making it even harder to hit than a spider.

Are we going to be able to choose which other 2 mechs of each variant that we get included in the package?

Yeah, it's pretty "built for TT". UAC 5, streaks, and whatever lasers work for you. No mater how you slice it, it's in no way going to be an "Alpha machine".

Wasn't in the FAQ, so yeah.

ORLY?

Q: Do I need empty Mechbays before I can purchase this package?
A: Great news - each Project Phoenix package comes with the precisely the necessary number of additional Mech Bays in order to house your newly purchased Mechs.

It's like halfway down...

It's basically a HBK-4G with the cannon on the other torso and missile over energy hard points.

Also Jump Jets

Well they haven't announced the upper limit on engine size for it, so you can (in theory) drop something bigger in to get some more vroom vroom. However current mech speed is capped by game engine netcode issues so..... We'll see.

The SHD came out pretty nice. The face is larger than the original since MWO is sticking with a "pilot is looking out a windshield" concept instead of the head merely being a sensor array feeding what the pilot sees in the neurohelmet. But it's close enough on this model that it isn't a real bother. I'd love to see the AC able to draw back into it's vertical resting position against the back and being controlled by the same switch that handles the missile bay doors, but I doubt they did that (some people may not be aware that the original Dougram's linear cannon does this, and that it was obvious on the original BT TT pewter models).

PGI: keep it up. We want more mechs; we want the original mechs; we want a chance to pay for more of the content that makes up Battletech. I have no doubt you're working on multiple balance issues, the coming Clantech, and the CW at the same time. I'll always disagree with your handling of several things (particularly targeting/aiming/triggering) and those bother me greatly. But we're still getting 3/4 of the real feel of BT (on the way to it anyway), and for that I'm grateful. You have my support in ignoring anyone who insists that balancing competition play is more important than ensuring a true simulation of the Inner Sphere; and in ignoring anyone who tries to support their argument using a variation of the phrase "what the community wants".

Wow. I cannot believe people are falling for this obvious money grab.

I am pretty sure that this game due to incompetent design decisions will be dead-on-arrival and people are still willing to put trust and cash into a company that has a shown before that they are incapable of delivering a satisfying product.

I rather put my money into games like Star Citizen backed by developers that have a proven track-record of delivering AAA games that are actually fun.

I think what you don't get is last time we gave $120 to MWO in hopes of further developing it, it went to IGP and its other games. What says this money will go into the development of MWO this time. I need some kind of proof this game wont sink in the next couple of months, show some kind of progression (hint CW) before i put another penny into it.

As I said before I'm all for giving PGI a ton of money..if it goes to PGI..and they fix balance, fix bugs, GIVE US A LOBBY like every other game has in existence, put out a meta game..like CW ect...they mention a plan for CW once in 2011..and then complete silence, so supposedly its coming soon. Doesn't the silence worry people?

Remember all those great pillars PGI talked about..yet none of them exist? Weight balance, role warfare, CW ect...it doesnt exist.

Actually I do get it. There are several people that actually have very valid concerns. Many of them are very passionate about the game and want it to reach its furthest potential. They get impatient because they enjoy this game so much and play it so much, or at least want to play it a ton. These people are very important to the game. I may not always agree with them but a healthy debate is always positive.

The problem is that often they just resort to snarky comments and bitter gibes that just gets them lumped in with the trolls or the winney teenagers that just want everything for free (I'm not referring to anyone specifically). As a result their critiques end up just being background noise that is ignored. And these people shouldn't be ignored. You'll notice that PGI devs don't visit the forums much anymore and the reason is that the forums are becoming irrelevant. If you (I'm using you in a general term) have fears and concerns please post them. Just post them in a clean and concise way that is logical and stripped of as much emotion as possible. Also please try to put it somewhere where it will likely be read by Garth (such as the suggestions forums).

This new Shadow Hawk...

Not to say I'm completely disappointed, but I expected better. Head is too square and cockpit window is too vertical, I believe it had a more streamlined head originally. The laser on its right hand is reduced to a Quickdraw-style unimpressive tube, whereas SH could always be recognized by a very distinctive and large laser mount on its hand. Finally, the cannon mount is as immobile as it can be, which not only makes it too much like a hunchback, but also means PGI has no plans to implement movable shoulder-mounted weapons at least up until November, and while I don't mind raising leg-mounted machineguns into torsos or bringing backfacing lasers forward, this is a kind of homogenization that may kill the diversity of mechs.

I know we're not getting Marauders, but if we did and they too had fixed dorsal autocannons, I'd not be happy at all.

Let's wait and see what Thunderbolt and Battlemaster look like. They better not have scrapped the 'Master's Xenomorph-head cockpit...

They kinda have to change up the art I think since the old artwork is probably still owned by their original owners.

Well PGI has been doing pretty well all things considered with the exception of Seismic Sensor, someone really screwed the poodle there.

And thats the only thing that matters to me. I might be running in the shadowhawk with a 360 engine and JJs as a new scout over my Jenner maybe. How fast would that go with a 360 engine?

I'll probably try the locust, but no JJs = sad panda. I played with an awesome yesterday for the hell of it and couldn't climb most of the ridges in canyon. HOW DO YOU PEOPLE PLAY LIKE THIS?
