I love the looks of the Shadow Hawk, which also happens to be my favourite mech (hooray!). The Thunderbolt looks great as well. Both these seem fairly close to the original mechs so that they are easily recognizable, but with a modern look.

I'm unsure if I like the Locust. While the original looks rather... funny... I can't say this version feels Locust to me. Maybe once I can see it it 3D.

Sadly, nor does the Battlemaster feel like a Battlemaster to me. I know they can't be too close to the originals due to the legal issues but I really miss the the bubble cockpit personally.

Overall though, I'm very happy we can get some of the old Battletech mechs into MWO. :(

In the podcast with Russ, he stated they are not ready to take on the Macross unseen at this time. He didn't rule it out, but he said don't hold your breath. He was hard at work with the legal team bringing the Project Phoenix mechs, which he said almost fell through two weeks ago so we are lucky we have them.

I like the look of the new Locust. It matches the load out a lot more than the old look did, which had four barrels looking more like lasers than machine guns for two machine guns.

Since it weighs half as much the Locust might grant you some extra Team Loadout leniency, and allow you to shift 20 tons from your Cap force to your Attack force...

Did I missed something and there are weight restrictions in MWO? :(

Stupid MG pods would always fall off too >< Matter of fact, of all the mechs I owned from my first boxset when I was a kid of 3025 mechs, all I have left is the leg of the Locust (The Locust model was in 4 pieces, main body missing a leg, the leg, and the 2 MG pods)

Quite a few mercs, and factions have contests against each other with imposed weight limits.

No, but PGI said that they'd probably want to add a drop weight restriction. Who knows, it might even be in (or close) until October. Then this might play a role.
I do think however that energy/ssrm lights with ECM will still be much preferred. Sneaking around the enemy or playing spotter is effin hard on some maps when you are without ECM.

Drop weight for lances would be cool, we always used it in TT.

Are those new LAMs? Nope. The SLDF only had Stinger, Wasp, and Phoenix Hawk LAMs. Here's the new art for the SLDF-era Stinger LAM that appeared in the recently published TRO: 3085

The pack doesn't include my Marauder or Archer however it is a step in the right direction.

In order to show Russ and Bryan and the team that the Unseen/Reseen/Soon-To-Be-Seen are a viable business venture, that should be continued with the rest of the Unseen, I have gone ahead and taken in the plunge as well.

Overlord Package? Cha-check!!!!!

ATD 41 answers slipped that PGI has looked into drop weight restrictions for UI 2.0 and is trying to find a balance between drop-weight (better for players) and weight class (better for quick match making).

Plus "voluntary" real weight matching may come about as the lobby gets built for team matches.

Its true.

http://robotechbattles.blogspot.com/

Its not harmony gold making the game. Its Palladium. Their biggest product is the Rifts rpg. They also have a Robotech RPG with the same rules as Rifts.

Apparently, you can buy other packages that don't include the Battlemaster! *gasp* I myself don't believe it to be true, but it's just what I heard. I mean, who cares about any other mech than the Battlemaster, right?

So just wait until Dec for the normal variant.

There probably won't be a normal hero for a very long time - the founder mechs will probably get heroes before Phoenix.
And by the time Founder heroes come the Clans will probably be here. So more shinies.

The point is if you want a hero type mech for any of the Phoenix mechs or you want to play earlier then the packages are it.

Normal variants have no "limited edition geometry", i'l be waitin' for clan founder programm if it comes out.

Yeah, it will be a great mech once weight limits are imposed on groups, which you have pretty much confirmed if your voluntary PR position grants you insider information.

Well, I play mediums almost exclusively.

Yeah, the founder's mechs have limited edition geometry which is most noticeable with the Atlas' and Catapult's heads / cockpits.
