all the founders money went straight to developing MWT so trick me once shame on you, trick me twice shame on me.
plus if people keep buying all this **** it will only encourage them to spend even more time on conning the playerbase

I don't like how this sale is going, or the rumors of how it will all end up paying for overhead or even the sunny side of them hiring more staff. The sort of thing that makes you wonder if your support will do any good in the long run.
I almost bought in to at least Talon level on an impulse...but I think I'll actually wait a bit. Went against my word and bought some more MC because I needed more mech bays, but I dunno. It's only 20 bucks but I'm already in for up to what a retail game costs, on my first ever Free2Play experience...I almost want to say I'm going to need 12v12 or CW or some more gameplay modes before I can justify spending more cash. And I don't just want a locust really :\. They should have given us an option for selection versus collection, and I might have been willing to pony up more.
But we'll see. I almost bought on sheer impulse, and it might still happen if I'm not careful.

I like the pack but haven't bought it yet, wanting to see what comes in July before I buy it. Mechs are nice but we need content.
My concerns are around is this all we'll be going live with? We need more games modes and really another half a dozen maps ideally.

this is really my issue, honestly i want to buy the pack but i'm loathed to spend on something i don't know i'll be playing in 6 months time if they don't release new content before launch
i've gotten into the beta pretty late due to my studies, so i'm also behind on events which makes me further paranoid
although, i'm happy to sink £300 into it if it's really going to pan out to be the best mech game ever so... meh!
i like it, i'll probably buy it.. maby..

Here is my take on it:
Pros:
1) Phoenix Sales gives PGI POTENTIALLY more money to hire staff, fix bugs and get the game right:
2) You get some nice mechs with some bonuses. Its good bargain depending on your entry into the game.
Cons:
1) Purchasing this Package may support the idea the the current game development is satisfactory.
2) Money generated, MAY NOT necessarily go towards the developement of MWO.
Lets get a clear picture of how the "vocal minority" feels.

I love Phoenix for the pros, and I feel like the cons are necessary risks you always take and should be willing to consider when you invest in something.
I cannot overstate that enough, and have to disclaim/put it out first that any of us who buy games in general are investing through retail in a sense, and with a beta we become less consumers and more limited partners. It does not entitle us to creative direction through popular opinion, but it does give us the option to continue funding or pull our personal plug by playing other games, neglecting to purchase expansions, DLCs, or in our case Project Phoenix.
The gamer community at large has a huge (and false) sense of entitlement when it comes to early betas that they pay for, and MWO is certainly not special in this regard. The point being, Phoenix is a perfect execution in my opinion, of generating required cashflow in order to move the project forward. It excites us as a community, it gives us a sneak peak, and it's an incredible value for what it offers you as the end-consumer (which is an extremely low risk from an investment standpoint) if you compare it to paying for piece by piece.
Video game development, at its core, is the a balance of priorities and creative direction under constraints of budget and time -- and worst of all you're in the entertainment industry where everyone has opinions, high expectations, and attention deficits.
And that's really the most important message here:
-If people want sniper mechanics to be addressed, it will take money for development.
-If people want better hit registration, it will take money for development.
-If people want new maps, it will take money for development.
-If people want Community Warfare to be successful, it will take money for development.
-New skins? Money. Development. Well artists, but still.
-I think you get the point.
It is with the community feedback that PGI can follow feedback and direction, but only with money can they move forward anywhere. You support them to drive forward with your wallet, and improve quality with your ideas. Complaining and refusing to invest earns you nothing much else but continued access to play, which is a privilege and not a right.
I hope PGI continues to monetize anything they think anyone in the community will finitely appreciate if they can afford to develop it. I also trust their judgement firsthand over mine for what is best for the gameplay, because at the end of the day they know better than anyone if the game isn't fun no one will want to play.
So 'in short', I love Project Phoenix. I look forward to future cashflow and what it can do, and think we have a bright future.
