Guess I'll save up for the Engine later as it appears I need Endo to make it work, eh?

Fitting Endo Steel internal structure on Assault mechs can be very tricky because of all the slots it takes up. Be darn sure you want Endo Steel before you buy it :D

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...fed42411d1e80bd

technically since those are to things you know you want and there isnt anything else you know you wa you can just build from there, max armor maybe add endo steel then see what other weapons you want

LMAO!

My most recent Atlas K rig, if anyone's interested. So far even with the stock runs I had done before, the Atlas K has given me a 1.0 kdr up til now. Some matches better than others.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d306c3028d9125e

Only used it once so far. Looking forward to seeing how well it raises me up now that the XL is gone and it's superbly heat efficient. (And yes, I'm trying to avoid the cheese meta.)

I had more slots than I could fit stuff into due to weight problems anyway, so it seems to be win-win in my case.

EDIT: Plus, if I understand correctly the 325 Engine will get me a "free" Double Heatsink as it can "house" three rather than the two the 300 Engine can. That's three free slots right there.

Most people say go for the RS. However, I never really got along with it.

I am most successful in the D, on which I've got an Artemis LRM15, 2 AC5s, 4 MPLs and AMS. It seems an odd build, but for whatever reason, I last longer and do more damage in it than even my D-DC.

It has a Standard 325 engine. Again, seems like an odd choice, but it certainly surprises those who go for the RT kill only to find that I keep coming at them with 4MPLs.

I only ever use standard engines in Atlases, and big ones, because I can't stand moving slowly.

A question, if you will. Why does those build images show two speed stats? Can you sprint or something?

My kdr with the D-DC is twice as good as most of my other mechs. It's easy mode. In fact, if u wanted to improve yr skill with Atlas u should use the AS7-D because it's well rounded tho the RS has all arm-mounted energy weapons so either of these are better if u want to test yourself. If u just want to win and massage yr ego try the D-DC

The lower value reflects the top speed of the mech with the currently equipped engine. The higher value reflects the top speed of the mech with the currently equipped engine and the speed perk bonus from the Elite Piloting Tree.

Much appreciated. Shame I'll never get that, heh...

Sure you will. The Atlas was hard for me to get used to. Coming out of Jenners, Hunchbacks, and Centurions, I would get repeatedly skull dragged when I tried to pilot it. Eventually, I got the hang of it. Given some good support from teammates, it can be an absolute death machine and a blast to play.

The same could be said for almost any mech, but especially the Atlas and Stalker, in my opinion.

Anyway; keep chipping away at it. You'll be there before long and probably have some awesome MW:O war stories for the experience.

Yeah but it is like 20 million C-bills to get two additional Atlases to unlock the other tiers, and at the current pace I feel like doing a celebratory dance whenever I hit one million C-bills.

EDIT: And that's just the cost of the stock variants, too! To make them viable is even more C-bills!

Takes time, it's true. But it is doable. I just got my 4th Atlas, my 6th Stalker, and have all of the Awesomes, 3 Highlanders..

..and all the other of my 61 current mechs, not including ones I sold and rebought, or the ones I bought before and sold.

But even if you don't...

This was basics only; my only Atlas since closed beta up until extremely recently.

If you're not fundamentally opposed to it for whatever reason (some folks get all frothy at the mouth when you bring this up), try getting some premium time when you have a weekend to play. It makes a world of difference. I am fairly deliberate in spending my money so I've only done this once, but I can say it was worth it as I got two or three shiny new mechs out of the deal and a lot of experience to boot.

But you only need one engine :) Keep that in mind. Plus you will want to get the other two Atlai. You definitely want that unlock. Much of the parts between them will be common. Finally, you can sell off random bits and bobs you'll collect along the way. At one point I had 9 LRM 15s and 23 Medium Lasers.

Another question: my stock engine is worth roughly 1 mil C-bills. Should I sell it to get the new one quicker, or keep it?

Your call really... it is a Standard 300 which is a pretty darn common size. You will get one in each of the Atlai you buy. You can move the engines around. Personally, I've always sold spare engines, Medium Lasers, LRM5s, SRMs of all sizes, AC/10s, and other useless dreck :(

300 is pretty darn common, my stalker and awesome both use it so it might be something worth keeping

Best starter Atlas....
Don't play assault mechs 'till you have mastered at least on chassis (means all 3 variants on elite) in the medium or lower heavy wight class !
Why ?
Assault mechs can be fearsome enemys and a real pain in the ***....FOR YOUR OWN TEAM.
Nothing is more frustrating than the biggest weapon in your team beeing piloted by a new inexperienced player.
You have not only the biggest firepower in your team but you will be the biggest LOSS of firepower if your mech goes down prematurely.
A wrong placed Assaultmech is nothing more than a oversized target.
Get cought in the open at the wrong moment and you are stone dead.
Your turn rate, your speed and your size will make it next to impossible to correct any positioning failures.
