I was looking at the planned Locust and Flea .. never mind Commando and Spider.
Most of these are lightly armored and armed (3 SSRM/ECM commando and ECM Spider somewhat excepted). They are speed limited at the same speed as the Raven, Jenner and Cicada. They are not that much smaller in terms of hit boxes.
The end result is that they generally have more trouble surviving and trouble dealing significant damage over the course of a match. Scouting is a generally quite limited role that only really lasts until the main forces engage ... after that most lights end up skirmishing or capping.
This situation will only get worse with the introduction of the Flea and Locust at 20 tons.
My suggestions would be
1) to increase the speed cap for these light mechs ... possibly all the way up to the Spider ... assuming the netcode has been sufficiently improved to handle it.
2) Make sure that the models and respective hit boxes for these new mechs are relatively small. It will take some balancing but these mechs should be small and fast and harder to hit as a result.
3) Review all the fast mechs up to Cicada and look at the top speed and hit box size in each case to balance them out.
